Freedom OF Religion is also Freedom FROM Religion.

The only person that lost their freedom is the woman sitting in a jail cell.  The gay couples wanting the licenses just wanted the government entitlements that come with the license.  I'm pretty sure they weren't looking for this clerk's signature to validate and sanctify their relationship.

Five of the nine high priests on the supreme court forced upon every Kentuckian(and every person under the rule of the federal government) what defines a marriage.  Somehow these holy priests found in the constitution the universal definition of marriage.  And if you defy the decree of these high priests, you will go to prison.

To my knowledge,  no where in the constitution is anything written about marriage, or
hundreds of other issues.

She sits in jail of her own free will.
She defied a court order which does have consequences.
Her options were to obey the law of the land.
or
Resign her post.
HER religion has nothing to do with the rights of OTHERS.
Of course we all know she was looking to push back against a law that disagreed with
her religion.  HER religion preventing OTHERS from marrying.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

using the reasoning that she 'prevented' others from marrying, this means it can be applied to gun laws.....making guns
illegal without a license/registration will prevent killing of others.....hhhhmmmmm

No, she refuses to sign a license in her county.  There are 120 counties in Kentucky.  That's 119 clerks that will sign the license for same sex couples.  She's preventing nothing.

So people in her county shouldn't expect the same rights as those of other counties....really?
So you advocate that they should just go to another county to get their license.  How is that
justifiable? So, if the county DMV refuses to give someone a license, they should just go to
another county to get it, right? What if the local county refuses to file a property deed?  You can't go to another
county to file it, because it has to be files in the county of residence.  Guess you are invoking YOUR right of
pick and choose and stating the clerk should have that right....pick and choose what they will or will not do!
Love to see your attitude if local clerk denies you something...you would be tweeting/blogging/crying all over
the place....but when it happens to others, it's OK in Sissy's book!

Her county offers services to it's citizens... she denied them the services they paid for in
their taxes.

Cissy goes to his local city hall to buy a hunting license...
The clerk says to Cissy... "I'M A VEGETARIAN, SO I WON'T SELL YOU A LICENSE.
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE".
Cissy's taxes pay for the office and the services offered, but cissy can get in his car and
drive to some other office... (where the clerk is anti hunting, etc etc etc)
But Cicero wasn't prevented from buying a license!

Did you ever loose your wallet ? Did you forget where you put it or maybe someone stole it Did you ever loose it by throwing it off a cliff ?

This ladys lawyers are giving her a lot of bad advise. They are as fanatical as she is.
I just have the feeling it is not going to go down good for this lady in the long run.  She will be eyeballed the rest of her life. She is not thinking this through.

You probably wanted your drivers license  so you could just drive around ?

I don't know if she took the job before same sex marriage was made legal, but either way if her religion forbids her from doing the job, and she fails to do the job, the correct response is termination of employment for not performing required tasks, not imprisonment.

Imprisonment and trying to force her to act against her religious beliefs is clearly a violation of her rights.

Who ever heard of people going to jail for not doing their job.

People who won't do their jobs get fired, not jailed into submission.

FIRST...she can't be "fired". As an elected official, she must be impeached by the
state legislature
SECOND...she wasn't jailed for not doing her job, she was arrested for contempt of
court, which resulted from failing to comply with a court ordered directive.

this is just a joke.
we know folks who live in arizona.
they had the same issue in the county they live in.
the same sex couples just went to a neighboring county and obtained their license.
no hoop-a-la!!

looks like the lame stream media picks and chooses what stories they are going to make the most ratings/money off of....or one that will divide the country EVEN MORE!!!
