Quoted from Box A Rox
“The South Carolina House of Representatives made two historic votes early
Thursday morning, ordering the permanent removal of the Statehouse’s
Confederate battle flag,” the Charleston Post and Courier reports.

Said: Gov. Nikki Haley:
“I’m grateful for their service and their compassion. It is a new day in
South Carolina, a day we can all be proud of, a day that truly brings us
all together as we continue to heal, as one people and one state.”

Symbolism over substance... the removal of the flag does NOTHING for race relations...The KKK isn't going to close up shop, nutjobs aren't going to magically be cured....

The only thing has been remedied is the removal of a flag that shouldn't have been there after the civil war...
It won't be any more effective, substance wise as removing a 1865 calendar...

Govt Almighty (?)  is being dragged to remove a traitorous flag from it's public land.
Nothing more... and it has to be dragged by the good people of this country just
to get that accomplished.

Now it's a "traitorous" flag?  I thought it was just a racist flag?

traitor:
1. a person who betrays another, a cause, or any trust.
2.a person who commits treason by betraying his or her country.

IT started out to be both a traitors and racist flag.  It was designed to represent
white supremacy, and symbolized those traitors who fought against their own country
in the interest of promoting slavery.

So... which is it for you Cicero?
A traitor?
A racist?
or
A promoter of slavery?
This flag covers all three.

House Republicans Pull Funding Bill Over Confederate Flag Amendment

Quoted Text
WASHINGTON -- A bill to fund the Department of the Interior stalled Thursday
after Republicans tried to add an amendment that would protect the Confederate flag
in national cemeteries.

"Where did you stand when you had a chance to stand for righteousness?" asked
Rep. Al Green, warning that in the future people will look back and assess
where lawmakers stood. "I stand against this symbol. I stand for the American flag.
I stand for justice."

"This amendment is a symbol of hate and anyone who supports it being in a place of
honor is an insult to anyone who has experienced racism in their lives or believes in the
American founding principles," said Rep. David Cicilline . "It's time to relegate
this symbol of hate to the dustbin of history. Take it down."

The Republican Party has been the "party of racism" for at least the last
40 or 50 years.  No surprise they pulled this ploy to garner the Racist Vote!

It's a battle flag that was fought under when a group of states democratically decided to secede from a voluntary Union.  It was in the defense of self governance from those preventing the right to self governance.  The confederate states didn't betray anybody, they elected not to be part of the Union.

The Native Americans wanted to self govern too.

INTERNATIONAL LEGAL FRAMEWORK FOR SECESSION
International law does not grant sub-state entities a general right to secede from
their parent states, nor does it prohibit secession. Exceptions to this supposed
neutrality arise from the international legal principles of territorial integrity and
self-determination. Defining these exceptions is difficult, however, because
territorial integrity and self-determination are legally ambiguous terms. For
instance, some scholars argue that territorial integrity merely safeguards the
inviolability of international borders but does not regulate an internal affair
such as secession. Others claim that territorial integrity prohibits secession
because secession dismembers the territory of the state. The principle of selfdetermination
similarly lends itself to restrictive or expansive interpretations.
Some argue that self-determination only allows for the creation of new states in
the context of decolonization. Many other scholars assert that the right of selfdetermination
legally entitles peoples subject to extreme persecution to remedy
their situation through secession. Most agree that the definition of the
“peoples” with collective rights to self-determination is unclear.

The right of self-determination did not cease to exist, however, with the
effective completion of decolonization. Many scholars insist that a right to
“remedial secession” exists. The notion of remedial secession assumes that
international law provides a right to secession for peoples subject to extreme
persecution or unable to internally realize their right to self-determination.
This theory postulates that if groups fall victim to “serious breaches of
fundamental human and civil rights” through the “abuse of sovereign power,”
then international law recognizes the right of the afflicted group to secede from
the offending state.

You can be charged in Flroida (and 4 other states) for defacing YOUR OWN Confederate Flag!
Um... You can burn the US Flag for political descent, but not the Racist Rebel Flag!

Isn't that crazy?  You know what?  You can be jailed for burning US currency too.  You could pile up you life savings, light it on fire, and be fined and go to jail for up to 6 months.  Crazy right?  Jail for burning your own money.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The Confederate flag was lowered from the grounds of the South

political reversal in a state where many thought the rebel banner would fly indefinitely.

Thank goodness!  The flag is down after 54 years!  Now America can return to the days of racial harmony like those days prior to the flag flying 55 years ago.
