Ok I read this article this morning and pretty near puked. I find it hilarious that the Democrat and Republican candidate both said they would take the politics out of the office. ARE YOU f**king KIDDING ME!!!!!  And how do you suppose they're going to do that. Do you think they'll wage a campaign to have it taken out of the voting booth! Yeah right!!!! When pig fly!!!!

I haven't totally made up my mind yet who I'm voting for, but sh*t like this is gonna make it a whole lot easier.

You read that WRONG, Go back and read it again. The DEMOCRAP NEVER stated she would take politics out of the office! It was Commarto and Koza that said that! I think what the two of them meant was that ONCE THE ELECTION IS OVER, politics will have nothing to do with how the office is run. I believe that if Marco is elected, the office will be hyper-political in every respect.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

right......that will be the demise of that office....maybe it should not be an elected office.....less wage......politics would not play a role in that position if it were "appointed".....but then.....that can go by the wayside.....who is connected to who.....so there goes that theory down the drain....or, combine it with Payroll/Finance......then the employees would have to do some work....and really earn their wages......what needs to be done .....Time standard checks on all positions....then you get a handle on what is waste and what is productivity....there sure would
bring a lot of those "workers" to their knees....

I believe Todd may have left the door open for the possible depoliticizing of the clerk's position with his reply to my question in the Todd Koza for town clerk thread.

Quoted Text
If the voters could be given a chance to make the Town Clerks position appointed the person appointed to the position MUST be a current town resident and a current notary public issued via the NYS testing process and not an appointed by the Secretary of State.

OK, then. We all know a write-in can never win. Let us all be real. Why would we split our vote and allow Marco to waltz in? I like Todd, but his energy is misplaced on this write in candidacy. No write in with an electorate of 10,000 voters can win. So why cede the election to the Democrap?

ok, first off the words can't and never aren't part of my vocabulary.     When I'm told you can't do that or that will never happen I'm inclined to try and prove those statements wrong, Just me, I can be pretty stubborn. My Irish-German heritage.

I do understand what you're saying though, but I would like to hear what the other candidates have to say on the issue of depoliticizing the TC office. Or for that matter any candidates for any office coming out and expressing their views. Where are these freakin' people? All I see is "gotdanged" signs all over town that tell me absolutely nothing.

Help me out here.

there sounds like no solution....question and confuse.....that's the stradegy.......

How about I put it this way: The odds are about 1,000 to one getting more than half of the people in the town to write in a name as they are very intimidated by that process since it is differnt than what they are used to. However, you can probably get 100-300 people to do it out of 9,000-10,000 which is often the margin in a race like this. So before you jump on a ship of a guy because he pledges to spend little money and pledges to not be in a major party, do the calculations and review the past electoral history. Furthermore, Todd was running for town board in a primary where about 700 people voted and could not achieve a majority and his name was on the ballot...what are his odds he can do better with a total of 9,000 votes cast and the challenge for seniors and everyone else to be able to handle a write-in correctly.

There is simply no need for a write in when you have a choice between two candidates on the ballot, and there really is not anything objectionable about the one. Todd has no reason to challenge the choice of the Republican Party because he never requested the nomination in my opinion. Four people interviewed for the nomination, and Todd was not one of them.

Running a second campaign for a different post after losing a race a few weeks ago does not a candidate make. I am still assuming his motive is not to be helping the Democrap candidate- Marco. I would like to continue viewing that way. But to lose for council then throw in the hat for clerk makes me wonder if he wants a certain post, any post, or just wants to spoil.

This is not a serious candidacy, nor is Todd a serious candidate and that is because of his own choosing. It reminds me of the guy who shows up for a job interview in a Speedo. He does it because he "can" not because he wants the jobs or has a chance to win it. But he certainly does distract from people making real comparisons between a lifetime political axe-grinder and politician and a political novice from the private sector who would treat the office as a job which serves the public.

If the deputy town clerk was disabled/sick and it was the clerks job to take care of the deputy, and "put up with the aching / crying / pain" every day in the office, I bet there'd be one less candidate on the ballot.

Just sayin

GB I get it and I'm not disputing one word you say, and if the truth be known I'm only considering 2 candidates for the office, and neither one has blue and white signs plastered all over town. I'm simply saying I want to hear what the 2 candidates have to say, and frankly a paragraph or two in the paper isn't doing it for me right now.

Todd took a big step by coming to this forum, because frankly that's like walking through a barnyard in your bare feet, and although it would be nice I don't expect Andrea to do the same. That's ok. I just want to hear from her in some way.

I respect the fact that the Reps. haven't littered the road sides with the cheesy signs yet, and really have no problem with a few popping up in the coming weeks and that makes me lean in that direction. But please let's hear from the candidates. That's all I'm saying.

The job is far to lucrative to pass on.  $53,000/yr. to essentially perform duties that pretty much anyone can do.  Lower the salary to half pay for half time worked, and keep the Deputy Clerk full time at that annual salary.  Same should be done for Receiver of Taxes.
