I'm sure there are some who are riding on the minimum wage increase to get them votes.....for now....but they don't have the
future in mind,,,,and neither did the donkey that continued to follow the fu<king carrot on the stick that was attached to
it's collar......

Quoted from Box A Rox
On Wednesday, Bloomberg reported that Wal-Mart is “looking at supporting an increase in the
federal minimum wage, breaking with business and industry groups that oppose such a measure.”
(That same day, Gap Inc., made a surprise announcement that it’s raising the minimum wage it pays
its employees to $10 per hour by 2015.)

Wal-Mart is weighing the impact of additional payroll costs against possibly attracting more consumer
dollars at its stores, David Tovar, a company spokesman, said today in a telephone interview. Increasing
the minimum wage means that some of the 140 million people who shop at the chain weekly would
“now have additional income,” Tovar said.

Good for Wal-Mart!  How many mom and pop shops can they put out of business by forcing more expensive labor onto them?  I can't wait until the day there are no more small businesses, and everybody works for a large corporation.  AWESOME!

they can ONLY be a large corporation,,,IF they allow union gangstas to control the raises/benefits for the mass workers..

I guess that would be a utopia?

if Walmart honestly believed this true, why wouldn't they just voluntarily increase their workers wages?  Why wait for the federal government to impose it? Ridiculous...

Where does that say they are waiting for the government to do anything?
Sounds to me they are evaluating the overall impact before making a decision.

Still reading challenged I see...no wonder you hate everything Cissy!

You are a corporate guy, labor costs are evaluated every fiscal year.  I guess it's just another coincidence that they are evaluating raising minimum wage in concert with democrats suggesting raising it nationally.  Oh, and let's not forget the pressure from Senators that sent a letter to them to remove tobacco products from their stores.  I guess the last 20 fiscal years they never evaluated the cost of labor and this new revelation that it will result in 140 million customers with "additional income".

Yup, in 2014 they are now evaluating paying higher cost for labor.  Most likely the higher wage will just mean more money to pay for mandated Obamacare premiums.

Nah...I'm with you..."corporate decision".  This is just the first year Walmart is taking a hard look at labor and weighing additional payroll costs.

Payroll increases are evaluated annually by corporations for their "employees".
Budgets are set prior to new year and impact is estimated based on projected sales and income.
Raising the min wage would be for new employees.....DUH! So they are looking to see what
the overall impact would be to their bottom line if they bring in new people at an increased
min wage, including the fact that any employee currently at min wage would also be increased
to a level about whatever new min wage they determine....it's called business decisions!!!!!
Of course Cissynomics knows that it can only be because of government influence!!!!!

So with the high number of unemployed and underemployed in America, Walmart is looking to possibly increase the cost of labor when there is a surplus of labor?  If you increase the cost of labor when there is a surplus of idle labor, does that encourage or discourage hiring new employees?  My understanding of free market supply and demand is, that if you have a surplus of supply the cost of supply goes down not up.  Unless you artificially fix the price above market value, resulting in continued high unemployment rate.

Fixing the price of minimum wage will lead to a class of permanent and chronic unemployed Americans.

CISSYNOMICS.....?!?!?!?!?!?
There has always been a surplus of labor, and there has always been a set min wage.
The surplus usually falls into several categories:
those on welfare/unemployment making more than if they worked
those on welfare/unemployment that have no desire to work
those that are overqualified and whose salaries prior to  being dumped into the market far exceeded min wage
those with overqualified experience that low min wage employer would not hire

So how has your Cissynomics worked so far?????
