The US military is responsible to protect this country in times of war and aggression.  They are NOT
responsible for which wars we fight or whether we fight a war or not.

The point was...Why can selective service mandate and penalize you if you don't register?  But states cannot mandate the voters responsible for electing the person that will ultimately send the men and women to war be identified and validated by requiring identification?

That makes perfect sense.

In response to both Vaedur and Tbird...
All Americans have a right to vote.  Those in the military are restricted from many political events, especially while
in uniform.
To be clear... The US military has no say so about the USA going to war.  Military leaders are asked advice about
the military and logistics but are not involved in political choices, except in the event that those political choices
effect the war effort.

Civilians send our military to war.  Civilians (politicians) decide if there is to be a draft, the military has no say in
the matter.  Civilians decide if we continue to fight in Iraq or Afghanistan... the military's role is to carry out the
decisions of the President, Congress & Senate... all Civilians.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

I would agree with you if our president wasn't also commander in chief.  That's like (in my opinion) saying that the HP doesn't make computers, it carries out the will of the CIO who makes the computers.

I don't spell check!  Sorry...

Being in the Military is a government JOB. It does not restrict the right for members to vote as they choose.
You can rightfully argue that being in the Military restricts your right to express your views publicly. In reality, the VAST majority of fellow voters don't exercise that right either.

The President isn't in the Military.  He's the civilian commander of the Military, but not restricted by
military rules and regulations.  The president is the link between the Civilian American population and the
US military.

Once in the military, you still have the right to vote, but can be restricted from holding some public office,
or even participating in public political demonstrations.

Again... the key provision... other than your one vote, the US Military has no voice on going to war.

What "civilians" decided to fly bombing mission over Libya?  What "civilians" decided to kill and American citizen in Yemen?  I don't recall my elected representative EVER voting to authorize those actions.  Please refresh my memory.  Our troops have been dying in unauthorized wars without the consent of their elected representative.

The mantra of the new revolution should be:

No Militarization without Representation.

Answer:
The President of the USA.

If you think his actions were illegal, then you have an obligation to our troops who serve your
sorry a$$ to do something about it.  Complaining on a Conservative message board doesn't count as
"doing something about it".

But the troops do bare the same blame as the "civilian" for the leadership sending them to war correct?  Since they do vote.

If you believe electing a war mongering president by simple majority is all America needs for consent of war, we are in trouble.

It isn't "complaining".  It's debating morons like you who haven't a clue.

BTW...I am doing something about it.  Giving time and money to the Ron Paul campaign.  Because he GETS IT!

once again, just because you're constantly butting heads with the the regular posters who happen to be conservatives, does not make this a conservative message board, so unless you've contacted the other 400 members who rarely post and determined the demographic here to truly be conservative you should probably refrain from calling this a "conservative message board", as it weakens your other statements and positions

I have no scientific knowledge of the political make up of the board.
But
Any political issue that gets debated is overwhelmingly Conservative.  Others may hold other political
views, but they don't often profess them.

My observation that this board is a "Conservative Board" is based on responses posted that I happen to
read.  I'm sure that there are other posters who never post their politics, or who's post I don't happen to
read.

I would guess that the majority of posts that are political in nature here, would be more Conservative
than not... hence... "A Conservative Board"!

if the GOP is keeping elders from voting the DEMS are keeping the elders away from healthcare due to 'cost',,,,,I'm already seeing it in my line of work....

your value no longer is about what you personally have worked for(capitalism) but what the system thinks is the best bang for the taxpayer buck.....

you want to talk about voter suppression......how about just killing those piles of useless cells.....

now THAT'S choice.....

choice by they seathing body of the mass......called humans.....just a bunch of F'EN cells with no real order

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

If you wanted to watch his little spech live, would you need I.D to enter the Congress building?

I see I have caused 'Suppression' of this argument with my factual statement.

No Boxy, Debbie Wasserman-Shultz (Siphilis Suzy) does not have a talking point for this retort. Nor does Media Matters/DU/KoS/
