Anyone with a half-a-brain and a desire for 'true democracy' would support voter ID's. Especially in the light of all of the voter/election fraud and corruption that looms the entire political arena.

"Voter Suppression" as orchestrated by the GOP in Florida has nothing to do with VOTER ID. In this case, thousands of legally registered voters are being removed from the registry using out of date and inaccurate data. Some of the data is over 10 years old that will remove a US Citizen from the voter registry. When they show up to vote in November, they will find out that they are no longer registered to vote. They could be carrying a legal passport, drivers license, and a dozen other legal forms of ID... and will find out that they have been cheated out of their vote by the GOP.
Of course the vast majority of people targeted in this campaign are Democrats... Of course!

In a bizarre turn of events... It turns out that those Dead People Voting that you always hear about from the Right Wing Crazies... turned out to be The 'DEAD' GOVERNOR HIMSELF!
The story: "(Reuters) - Florida's governor, who is leading a disputed purge of voter registration rolls, had to cast a provisional ballot in 2006 because officials mistakenly thought he was dead.
"Governor Rick Scott was required to use a provisional ballot in the 2006 primary and general elections because Collier County election officials had received a Social Security Death Index Death Record that led them to believe he had died on January 27, 2006."
Unlike the Gov, who got to use a 'provisional ballot' the GOP Voter Suppression campaign that is now going on, the targets of The GOV (mostly Democrats) will be removed from the voter registration rolls... they will be inelligible to vote because the GOP vigilantes erased their names from the Registration.

If you are forced to campaign with a losing Republican prospect, the proven way to "win" the election is to steal it. Examples:
~ Earlier this week former employees of Sproul & Associates (operating under the name Voters Outreach of America), a firm hired by the Republican National Committee to register voters, told a Nevada TV station that their supervisors systematically tore up Democratic registrations.
~ In 2002 the Republican Party in New Hampshire hired an Idaho company to paralyze Democratic get-out- the-vote efforts by jamming the party's phone banks.
~ Ohio's secretary of state, a Republican, tried to use an archaic rule about paper quality to invalidate thousands of new, heavily Democratic registrations. (The attempt failed.)
~In Wisconsin, a Republican county executive insists that this year, when everyone expects a record turnout, Milwaukee will receive fewer ballots than it got in 2000 or 2002 - a recipe for chaos at polling places serving urban, mainly Democratic voters.
~ Florida, as mentioned in the beginning of this thread, is in the midst of a Republican Voter Suppression campaign.

Some type of photo-id should be required to vote... and the government should provide it for free. It should be a part of your voter registration process. Providing it for free should satisfy everyone's concerns... what's so hard to figure out?
