Low taxes was the incentive back then.
that's because ge and alco were paying the lions share of taxes. and what they didn't pay in taxes they doled out in kick backs to guarantee a booming illegal gambling business. and folks weren't running to the government (like they do today) for every little thing! OMG! i'm not saying I agree....but without the 'incentives'.....the city would be void of all businesses. so without ge/alco .... who is footing the taxbills bill?....the taxpayers. and if they don't like it.....GET OUT!! cause all the pi$$in' and moanin' in the world, coupled with a regime change....ain't gonna change one damn thing. |
