You need to read more carefully.  I wrote  Faith OF the the Church.  Our faith is in God.  The Church is merely all the believers - all of whom are sinners in need of healing and redemption - here on earth.

And I suggest that everyone read the WHOLE interview given by Pope Francis.  Welcoming the sinner has ALWAYS been a part of Catholic Church teaching because WE ALL ARE SINNERS.  Welcoming the sinner does NOT negate the seriousness nor the evil of the sin itself.

agreed. however, EVERYONE already knows this....so why did the pope have to make abortion and or gay issues a separate sin that needs to be addressed? According to the bible, no sin is greater than another....yes? Christ didn't suffer more for the murderer than for the liar....yes? the bible says....'ALL are sinners'! HENCE the church is full of 100% sinners! the rest is between the sinner and his/her God.

personally the pope was singling out one group over another and that is not biblical nor christian.....imho

All issues the government shouldn't be involved in or if it is should be a local issue.

true....form GOV ALMIGHTY'S point of view.

no true..........from the pope's point of view.....the pope was out of line.....imho!!!

folks expect this kind of rhetoric from THE COLLECTIVE GOVERNMENT...........not from the church.

THE COLLECTIVE GOVERNMENT is famous for dividing and singling out....the church is expected to unite with ONE theology! plain and simple.

Make your choice folks!

BOTH the church and the govt are saying that Abortion, Gays and Contraception are a personal
choice, not a choice for Govt or the Church.

The Pope realizes that Zealots are pushing good people away from the church by preaching their
view, and not following the words of Jesus.

The issue is a vote getter for THE COLLECTIVE GOVERNMENT.

The issue is a 'money grab' for the CHURCH!!!

Honestly.......that is ALL it boils down to!

You always want it both ways Bumbler...
Is it a 'money grab' because it will chase away rich conservatives from the church?
or
Is it a 'money grab' because it will attract gays and pro choice liberals?
Either way the church will lose one group while it may gain others.

OK, if it's about the money, then I'll ask again:

Just like any good business model, you do your market research.  If the majority of customers are looking for feel good spirituality without strict adherence to God's moral law, then it may be a smart business move to change Catholic marketing to spirituality instead of morality.

The pope is a Jesuit, so he may not necessarily be what he appears to be.

without strict adherence to God's moral law,
Come on Cicero!
Which of your "Gods Moral Law" are you shopping for today???
The one that says you that you'll be stoned to death for adultery??? That law?
Or the one that says it's a capitol offense for 'male homosexuality'?  (For some reason female
homosexuality is a lesser crime.)
How about being executed for 'worshiping idols', or for 'blasphemy?  Are you posting about
those 'SERIOUS SINS OF YOUR "GODS MORAL LAW"?

Cissy, why not abide by the word of Jesus when it comes to Abortion, Gays and Contraception...
or do YOU get to choose for others which of "Gods Moral Laws" that they are to obey?

OH NOOOOO!
Now the Pope is hitting the Republicans where it really hurts...
In their Sacred Wallet!

Pope Francis Decries Idolatry of Money
Quoted Text
Luke 16:13-15
"No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God
and Money." The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at
Jesus. He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men,
but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's
sight.

What does this have to do with me?  I'm not Catholic.  I was commenting on this Pope's public comments on abortion, gay marriage, and contraception.  I never said anything about stoning, worshipping idols, or blasphemy.

You came off the tracks there a little bit box.   That was a heck of a red herring you threw out there though...

Cissero,
You brought up "strict adherence to God's moral law" Not I.
If the Catholic Pope is ok with these views, why do you think that they are in opposition to
your "strict adherence to God's moral law"?
I would guess that the Catholic Pope would know what is and what isn't in the Catholic view of
"Gods Moral Law.  After all, he's the CEO of the Church on earth.

As Congress considers cruel and barbaric attacks against the poor embodied by efforts
to impose massive cuts in the food stamp program — cuts that would make the poor more
poor, the hungry more hungry, the needy more needy and the ill more ill — it is fitting to
consider the new papacy of Pope Francis.

The world has been blessed with a powerful, loving, compassionate, humble, faithful, wise and
transcendent voice for the poor and downtrodden in Francis.
