All I care about is DVOR's reaction to this. That will be funny.

Wow, OVER ONE WEEK and not a peep out of him.

Previous threads dealing with REMS, he was all over it, posting non-stop, supporting paying for it no matter what the cost is to the taxpayers (of which he not one).

Rotterdam paramedics could be cut as result of town budget
By: Web Staff Updated 8:47 AM

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- The future of the Rotterdam Paramedic program is up for discussion at Wednesday's town board meeting.

The town supervisor will present his budget proposal at the meeting. The budget includes cutting the town's paramedic service and contracting emergency services with Mohawk Ambulance. The change would save the town hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Members of the Rotterdam Paramedic program oppose the plan, and have expressed concerns about the impact the change would have on emergency services in the town.

Now I would love to go to the town meeting tonight.   I can here it now.

"Mr Supervisor, my dem buddy Harry,  fellow dems on the town board, I am a dem, I support the dem party and all it's socialist ways.  You can't eliminate REMS.   REMS is the only ambulance that I would ever call."

Maybe one of us will go.

Proposed Rotterdam town budget would eliminate paramedic service

Tuesday, September 24, 2013
By Justin Mason (Contact)
Gazette Reporter

ROTTERDAM — Town Supervisor Harry Buffardi’s budget proposal would keep the property tax increase within the state-imposed tax cap, but eliminate the town’s paramedic service in the process.

Buffardi said his 2014 budget ends the three-decade-old town-funded service at a savings of roughly $600,000. The town would then contract all of its emergency medical services with Mohawk Ambulance, a private company based in Schenectady that would fill the need at no cost to taxpayers.

Buffardi said the move to a private service is both practical and timely.

...

The move would eliminate three full-time and 14 part-time paramedics — civilian workers paid through the Rotterdam Police Department’s budget

....

Yeah, where is that $600,000 being reallocated - cop salaries and pensions?  It's not a savings, it's a sacrifice.  Are my taxes going down $52 per year?

paramedics, up to 9 police staff retiring, $25 water and free yard waste pickup, failing water lines or 20%+ increase in taxes

keep in mind that retirement and fees are exempt from the tax cap

so are rotterdams tea bagger candidates supporting the keeping the paramedics or canning them  - where does the red team stand on the issues
