+1...me too!
No boots on the ground and no action without Congressional approval...even then I'm not sure I want us involved!
Assad needs to be stopped.....I think all agree.  Best option is black ops nightime visit and he just disappears, never to be heard from again.
I think it is unbelieveable that his wife was over in UK spending millions on clothing for herself, with bodyguards and staying in some fortified location
when all the $hit is going down in Syria.  Example of her and his arrogance and lack of concern about the people and deaths happening.

JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!!
JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!

I didn't set a red line. The world set a red line. The world set a red line when governments
representing 98 percent of the world's population said the use of chemical weapons are
abhorrent  and passed a treaty forbidding their use, even when countries are engaged in war.
Congress set a red line when it ratified that treaty.
Congress set a red line when it indicated that in a piece of legislation entitled the Syria
Accountability Act that some of the horrendous things happening on the ground there need
to be answered for.

President Barack Hussein Obama

Bullshit Obama... At least own what you DID say...

http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_.....logical-weapons?lite

from the above link titled "Obama draws 'red line' for Syria on chemical and biological weapons"
"We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized," the president said. "That would change my calculus. That would change my equation."

Of course, it could depend what the meaning of "us" is....

"Both the minister [Turkey Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu] and I saw eye to eye on the
many tasks that are ahead of us, and the kinds of contingencies that we have to plan for,
including the one you mentioned in the horrible event that chemical weapons were used.
And everyone has made it clear to the Syrian regime that is a red line for the world,"
Clinton said at the time.

The President defines "us"...

Obama also made a point of saying that the issue of chemical weapons doesn’t just concern
Syria and the United States, but also allies in the region including Israel.

They aren't making an "argument for war"... are they.  War... like the Iraq war, or the Vietnam
or Korean war...
They are making an argument for a punitive strike against the use of chemical weapons.

(BTW, you can add my name to those opposed to going to WAR in Syria.)

The US military is engaging the Syrian military.  That is WAR by definition.  You can call it cute things like punitive strikes, but at the end of the day it's an act of war.  You can go ahead and list all the other air strike done by republican presidents, they are all acts of war too.  The drone strikes on the other hand are extrajudicial execution waged by the CIA against non military targets.  That is murder.

If you are against war, then you are against the US military attacking the Syrian military.

Sometimes military might is used to conquer, sometimes it's used to punish, sometimes it's used
to gain control of land or people, sometimes it's used for genocide, sometimes it's used for greed,
sometimes it's used to prevent killing of innocents...etc etc etc.

You can define war as you like... WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq 1 & 2 were wars.
All military actions are not war, no matter how much you insist that they are.

You are the king of definitions, and war is clearly defined.  Any use of a nations military is most definately war.  You've changed the definition to add degrees of war.  For you, it seems that air war is not war, only ground war is.  For some reason Syria looks at missiles raining down on their cities as an act of war.  I would have a hard time believing that Pearl Harbor is now not an act of war, but instead a punitive air strike.

The president is ultimately responsible for everything that he or his administration does.
That goes without saying.

By Cicero's definition of WAR, the USA went to war with Haiti after their hurricane:
First U.S. military aid reaches quake-stricken Haiti
January 13, 2010
As Cicero defines it, THIS IS WAR:
Quoted Text
The U.S. Southern Command is leading the Department of Defense's response.
Gen. P.K. Keen, deputy commander of the Southern Command, was in Haiti when
the quake struck and has seen the situation at the airport.
"He says the runway is functional, but the tower doesn't have communications capability.
The passenger terminal ... has structural damage to it, so we don't know what the status
of it is, " said Gen. Douglas Fraser, head of U.S. Southern Command. "So we have a
group going in to make sure we can gain and secure the airfield and operate from it,

because that's one of those locations we think we're going to have a lot of the immediate
effort -- from an international basis -- going into."
The group includes a unit of U.S. Air Force Special Operations Forces that departed
Hurlburt Field in Florida on Wednesday afternoon. They include airmen and equipment to
set up temporary air traffic control systems as well as search-and-rescue experts
Fraser also has ordered the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson to steam toward Haiti
Southern Command has ordered a unit of about 2,000 Marines to head to Haiti.
The Marines will deploy aboard a large deck amphibious ship, which would give the military
more helicopters to work with in Haiti.
The Army said a brigade of roughly 3,500 members of the 82nd Airborne Division is on
notice that they may soon be sent to Haiti.

Aircraft carriers, 2000 US Marines, 3500 82nd Airborne, securing the airfield and establishing
air traffic control...

$hit!  sounds like it was another one of Cicero's "INVASIONS"!!!

Remember it's your definition Cicero... not mine:
Any use of a nations military is most definately war.

Not according to him...
quote from today
President Obama said on Wednesday that international credibility is on the line with how the world responds to Syrian leader Bashar Assad's suspected use of chemical weapons.

"My credibility is not on the line," Obama said. "International credibility is on the line."

He added: "The question is, how credible is the international community when it says this is an international norm that has to be observed? The question is how credible is Congress when it passes a treaty saying we have to forbid the use of chemical weapons?"

It seems everyone's credibility is on the line except his

As a major leader of the free world, the president is responsible for his own actions.

Since he has no authority to control other governments, they are responsible for their response
to this issue.

Most of the world, even communist countries agreed that Chemical Weapons are not allowable
even in time of war.
The president of the US and the US Congress agreed to those terms and reaffirmed them
several times.

The "WE HOPE HE FAILS" group in the US congress is the only reason this is even an issue. After
attacking every possible issue that has come up, they are treating the use of Chemical Weapons
as if it's just one more political button to help them discredit a very popular president.

Senate Committee Votes Yes On Syria Resolution To Bomb Assad

Quoted Text
WASHINGTON -- Overcoming reservations from the left, the right and the
American public, a Senate committee Wednesday passed a resolution to bomb Syria
in retaliation for President Bashar al-Assad's alleged use of chemical weapons.

In a delayed markup of a resolution to authorize the use of military force, the Senate
Foreign Relations Committee voted 10 to 7, with one present, to let President Barack
Obama mount a bombing campaign aimed at the Syrian regime's weapons of mass
destruction for up to 90 days, within a more limited scope than Obama requested.

Followed by a Rand Paul Fail:
Quoted Text
The committee also voted 14-5 to table an amendment from Sen. Rand Paul
that would clarify the president's constitutional authority to use military force
in the event that Congress voted against intervention in Syria.

Rand Paul Flip Flop!

News That I Will Filibuster Syria Resolution Is A "Misinterpretation"

Sen. Rand Paul said Wednesday that media reports claiming he is planning to filibuster the resolution
authorizing the use of force in Syria are a "misinterpretation."

Pressed about the reports by Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) during a Senate Foreign Relations
Committee business meeting, Paul said: "That would be a misinterpretation from the media."

In a Thursday afternoon report, the New York Times quoted a Paul aide saying that the senator
"will filibuster any effort to bring an authorization of military force to a quick vote in the Senate."
