Punitive strikes.  They never put boots on the ground in America.

Same with 9-11, punitive strikes, no boots on the ground.

Another reason to stay out of the mess in Syria.                       Brutality of Syrian Rebels Posing Dilemma in West
By C. J. CHIVERS
Published Sept 6, 2013
The prisoners, seven in all, were captured Syrian soldiers. Five were trussed, their backs marked with red welts. They kept their faces pressed to the dirt as the rebels’ commander recited a bitter revolutionary verse.

“For fifty years, they are companions to corruption,” he said. “We swear to the Lord of the Throne, that this is our oath: We will take revenge.”

The moment the poem ended, the commander, known as “the Uncle,” fired a bullet into the back of the first prisoner’s head. His gunmen followed suit, promptly killing all the men at their feet.

This scene, documented in a video smuggled out of Syria a few days ago by a former rebel who grew disgusted by the killings, offers a dark insight into how many rebels have adopted some of the same brutal and ruthless tactics as the regime they are trying to overthrow.

As the United States debates whether to support the Obama administration’s proposal that Syrian forces should be attacked for using chemical weapons against civilians, this video, shot in April, joins a growing body of evidence of an increasingly criminal environment populated by gangs of highwaymen, kidnappers and killers.

Abdul Samad Issa, 37, the rebel commander leading his fighters through the executions of the captured soldiers, illustrates that very risk.

Known in northern Syria as “the Uncle” because two of his deputies are his nephews, Mr. Issa leads a relatively unknown group of fewer than 300 fighters, one of his former aides said. The former aide, who smuggled the video out of Syria, is not being identified for security reasons.

A trader and livestock herder before the war, Mr. Issa formed a fighting group early in the uprising by using his own money to buy weapons and underwrite the fighters’ expenses.

His motivation, his former aide said, was just as the poem he recited said: revenge.    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09.....est.html?hp&_r=0

Love when Graham starts drinking and using racist terms, too bad it only happens 1-2 times a week.

Graham reminds me of those two old grumpy guys hollering from the balcony at the Muppets theater!

Was Pearl Harbor an act of war to you box?, you keep ignoring that question. Truth is you're dodging it because you know damn well it was and it will be no different then what we will be doing in Syria.

LMAO @ "dodging the question"!!!

Lets see...
In Pearl Harbor, the Japanese attacked our military with the intent on destroying the United States of
America...
In Syria the intent is to degrade Syria's ability to use Chemical Weapons on it's own people or it's neighbors.
Is that the same thing to you???

You have to factor in the possibility of unintended consequences with any type of action taken.

You also have to factor in the possibility of 'unintended consequences' with inaction.
Iran is watching to see just how much of a response there will be if Chemical Weapons are used.
This incident isn't happening in a vacuum, the world response is being accessed by all countries
who have considered using WMD's.

Ahhh....Then WWII wasn't a war at all.  Our intent wasn't to destroy Germany Italy or Japen.  Just degrading their military capabilities to use on their neighbors.  The US never destroyed these countries, since they are still countries today.

Our interest in WW2 was (as you already know) to defeat the Axis militarily then set up a democracy
in those countries, and leave.

But you already knew the answer to your post... you were just being "difficult" again this morning!

I know what the interests were, but silly me, I thought it was war.  Now I know it was a kinetic military action to prevent the axis from harming neighboring countries.

Lets use your definition of war Cicero... REMEMBER???

...War is clearly defined.  Any use of a nations military is most definately war.

The USA went to war with Fort Plain NY when The National Guard deployed to assist after recent floods!

I wonder if they surrendered yet?

it's pretty sad when 'we the people' in ALL countries are led to HATE other people from different countries because of their GOVERNMENT/POLITICS!!! We were led to hate the Germans, the japanese,  the Koreans, the vietnamese, the muslims, the arabs!!! PATHETIC!

Global governments are, and always have been, in a power stuggle for oil/money/land/resources......sending their young men and women in harms way to fight THE GOVERNMENT'S battles!

'We the innocent' are the ones that are dying and/or coming back home with mental/physical disabilities. And those are just the military folks!! Add the innocent civilians to that!!!  AND FOR WHAT???? GOV ALMIGHTY????? Palleeeez!!

If anyone believes that this Syrian issue is about Chemical Weapons.....i got a bridge to nowhere to sell ya!!!

Yeah, I really screwed that one up.  Whether it be the national guard in Ft Plain, bombing Dresden, Hiroshema, or bombing Syria, none of it is war.  The US never commit acts of war.  Our military aggression is really benevolence.
