Cissy wants the NRA or GOA to be involved in Gun Laws???
OMG Cicero!  FUNNY!

No silly, the laws would be passed by congress, the  names of government agents that have guns would be reported to a private organization.  Kinda like the sex offender register.

What good would that do???  If all guns are registered, other than your personal perverse hatred
of police, why would police be singled out to have their names in a public register???

Police wouldn't be "singled out", they would just be on a transparent register just like those they are policing.  I don't see the big issue...How does registering guns prevent violent crime in the first place, what good does it do?

IF all guns are registered and a gun is found at a crime scene, it ties it's owner to the crime.  If all guns are
registered and a felon is found with a gun, the serial number on the gun will lead to who sold a known
felon a gun.  If guns are registered and a stolen gun is found on a criminal, the owner may get his gun
back.
Registering all guns would eventually restrict the number of guns available to criminals.

Possible Obama Gun Law Choices:
The plan:
Requires background checks for all gun sales and strengthens the background check system.  This would include removing barriers under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act so that states may more freely share information about mental health issues involving potential gun purchasers.
Provides states with monetary incentives—$20 million in fiscal year FY 2013 and a proposed $50 million in FY 2014—to share information so that records on criminal history and people prohibited from gun ownership due to mental health reasons are more available.
Bans military-style assault weapons and limits magazines to a capacity of 10 rounds.
Provides additional tools to law enforcement. The plan proposes a crackdown on gun trafficking by asking Congress to pass legislation that closes “loopholes” in gun trafficking laws and establishes strict penalties for “straw purchasers” who pass a background check and then pass guns on to prohibited people.
Urges Congress to pass the administration’s $4 billion proposal to keep 15,000 state and local police officers on the street to help deter gun crime.
Maximizes efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.  The president calls upon the attorney general to work with U.S. attorneys across the country to determine gaps occurring in this area and where supplemental resources are appropriate.
Provides training for “active shooter” situations to 14,000 law enforcement, first responders and school officials.
Directs the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to issue a statement to health care providers that they are not prohibited by federal law from reporting threats of violence to the proper authorities.
Launches a national gun safety campaign to encourage responsible gun ownership and authorizes the Consumer Product Safety Commission to examine issues relating to gun safety locks.
Helps schools invest in safety. The president’s plan calls for more school resource officers and counselors in all schools through the Community Oriented Policing Services  hiring program. The plan also calls for the federal government to assist schools in developing emergency management plans.
Improves mental health awareness through enhanced teacher training and referrals for treatment. The plan calls for the training of 5,000 additional mental health professionals nationwide. The plan also calls for coverage of mental health treatment under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008.

Federal gun laws will be enforced in conservative states just like federal drug laws are enforced in Colorado and Washington State.  Or how federal immigration laws are enforced in liberal cities.

No idea.  Probably the same way that they are enforced in conservative cities.

How well is NY doing at getting guns registered?  Federal laws are already being nullified by states(liberal states at that).  I gave two examples.  Why do you think a federal gun register would be different?  Like in Colorado and their legalization of marijuana, what is the federal government going to do if South Carolina passes a law that doesn't require a gun registration?

On October 21, Pew Research Center released findings that show the annual rate of firearm-related homicides in America declined by nearly 50 percent between 1993 and 2013.

That’s the same time period in which The Washington Post (WaPo) reported that firearm ownership doubled in the United States.

The WaPo did not put a figure on the number of privately owned guns in America. Rather, they estimated that that average gun owner went from owning 4.1 guns in 1994 to owning 8.1 in 2013. Breitbart News used Congressional Research Numbers to show that this means the 192 million guns owned privately in 1994 grew to 310 million or more in 2009 and to an estimated 350 million in 2013.

And PEW Research shows that this surge in privately owned guns did not correlate with an increase in firearm-related homicides but with a plunge in the annual firearm-related homicide rate, which fell from 7 per 1oo,ooo Americans in 1993 to 3.6 per 100,000 in 2013.

Complimenting this 20-year doubling of the number of guns owned by Americans is the fact that concealed carry permit holders nearly tripled between 2007 and now. According to the Crime Prevention Research Center, the “4.6 million” concealed permit holders of 2007 grew to over “12.8 million” permit holders in 2015. That means the last five years of the surge in gun ownership also coincided with a surge in carrying guns in public for self-defense.

Combining these findings and applying them to the times in which we live make clear that in the very year that gun control groups like Moms Demand Action and Gabby Giffords’ Americans for Responsible Solutions were founded to fight gun violence, Americans were embracing the freedom to buy approximately 150 million new guns and to carry many of those guns for self-defense.

U.S. Police Chiefs Call For Background Checks For All Gun Purchases
"This is a no-brainer, this is the simplest thing in the world."

Quoted Text
Police chiefs from across the United States called on Monday for universal background checks
for firearms purchases, saying opinion polls consistently show that most Americans support such
restrictions.
The proliferation of firearms is one of the factors behind a rise in homicide rates in many U.S. cities this
year, according to senior law enforcement officials at the International Association of Chiefs of Police
conference in Chicago.
