Since no crisis can be allowed to go to waste, never expect the media to do anything other than demand more gun control legislation any time a whacko (or a patsy) kills people with a gun. Case in point: on Tuesday night, a complete idiot walked into a Portland, Oregon mall and began firing. Obviously the shooter, Jacob Roberts, was an imbecile to start with, since he managed to kill only two people before turning a gun on himself, but that's not the whole story.
As it turns out, 22-year-old Nick Meli was at the mall, and walking with his friend and their friend's son. Nick said: "I heard three shots and turned and looked at Casey and said, 'are you serious?'" Nick then directed his friend to a safe location and took up a position behind a pillar away from the shooter.
The anti-gun types would suggest that this man call the police and watch the shooter kill a dozen or more people until the cops finally showed up. Nick had other ideas. Being a legal Concealed Carry permit holder in the State of Oregon, Nick determined that he should try to prevent more deaths. He said: "[The shooter] was working on his rifle, he kept pulling the charging handle and hitting the side," as the shooter dealt with a jammed gun.
Nick drew down on the shooter as they made eye contact, and Nick prepared to fire. However, he determined (like any conscious firearms owner should) that there were other people behind Roberts, and his shot was not safe.
The only shot fired after this point was Roberts taking his own life. What could have ended as tragically as the school shooting in Connecticut ended much less tragically, with only two innocent people dead instead of 29.
Of course, the media completely ignored the part that Nick Meli played in this situation, but that's to be expected from an anti-gun, pro-government media. However, it must be recognized that guns DO save lives, and citizens with firearms DO take the necessary precautions not to harm more people.
Colorado woman is thought to have accidentally killed herself on Thursday as she tried to show off her recently-purchased assault rifle to friends.
Federal Heights Police Department spokesperson Lt. Gary Toldness told The Denver Post that 22-year-old Anastasia Adair was drinking beer with her 40-year-old tattoo artist husband, Dana “Shane” Adair, and three other people when the incident happened in their garage where their Harley Davidson motorcycles were parked.
Toldness said that Anastasia Adair went into her home to get the rifle and then returned to the garage, but slipped or stumbled while handing it to her husband. The weapon went off, striking her in her head. Dana Adair reportedly caught his wife before she could hit the ground.
According to KMGH-TV, the gun fired a second time as Anastasia Adair fell, but no one was hit.
She was later pronounced dead at Denver Health Medical Center.
“At this point in time, we are looking at this as an accidental shooting,” Toldness explained to the Post.
“It’s not a good idea to be handling weapons while you’re intoxicated,” he pointed out. “It’s always a bad mix.”
Toldness said the assault rifle appeared to be similar to an AK-47, with a 20 to 30 round clip that was about half full.
“She had just purchased it recently … and decided to show it off,” the department spokesperson said.
KMGH-TV described Anastasia Adair as “a new gun enthusiast.” One photo on her Facebook page showed her and her husband target practicing with handguns.

California Concealed Carrier Captures Suspected Murderer at Gunpoint, Holds Him for Police May 6 2013
A man was fatally stabbed in Oceanside, CA outside of a motel.
The incident was originally thought to have been a fight, but now it appears it may have been an assault turned murder.
Several bystanders rushed to the aid of the victim, and one bystander, a legal concealed carrier, drew his firearm and held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.
The suspect was arrested by police and is being held on suspicion of murder.
Concealed carry permits are generally hard to get in California, but many counties, especially in more rural areas will actually issue them, contrary to popular belief.
This is another defensive gun use in which no shots were fired and the bad guy ended up behind bars.
War Veteran Chases Down, Captures Burglary Suspect, Holds Him at Gunpoint for Police May 6 2013
Jared Martin, a National Guardsman who served in Iraq and Kuwait, and a concealed weapons holder wasn’t about to let a burglary suspect who was in the process of robbing him the second time, get away.
When Martin awoke around 3am, he grabbed his gun and went to investigate a possible noise in his garage.
That’s when he saw a bag that was previously stolen from his home hanging from a nearby bicycle.
Martin located a nearby man on his property and ordered him at gunpoint to come into the light of the garage.
The suspect reportedly said he couldn’t go back to jail and then ran off.
Martin, who has lost hundreds of dollars of items to theft, wasn’t about to let him get away.
He chased down the suspect, grabbed him by his hoodie and dragged him back to the home, where he then held him at gunpoint until police arrived.
The suspect was arrested by police and is being charged in multiple thefts in the area.
This is another defensive gun use in which no shots were fired, no one was hurt, and the bad guy ended up behind bars.
Guns in the Home and Risk of a Violent Death: Findings from a National Study
Quoted Text
Data from a US mortality follow-back survey were analyzed to determine whether having a firearm in the home increases the risk of a violent death in the home and whether risk varies by storage practice, type of gun, or number of guns in the home. Those persons with guns in the home were at greater risk than those without guns in the home of dying from a homicide in the home. They were also at greater risk of dying from a firearm homicide, but risk varied by age and whether the person was living with others at the time of death. The risk of dying from a suicide in the home was greater for males in homes with guns than for males without guns in the home. Persons with guns in the home were also more likely to have died from suicide committed with a firearm than from one committed by using a different method.
Results show that regardless of storage practice, type of gun, or number of firearms in the home, having a gun in the home was associated with an increased risk of firearm homicide and firearm suicide in the home.

Sandy Hook shooting a reminder of the dangers of gun ownership
Quoted Text
We were warned in a landmark 1993 study in the New England Journal of Medicine that gun ownership in and of itself is a huge risk factor for dying by the gun. In a study of three counties in Tennessee, Ohio, and Washington state, researchers from several universities found that occupants were nearly 3 times more likely to be killed in a homicide if guns were in the home.
The risk for women nearly quadrupled with a gun in the home. The vast majority of victims were, like Adam Lanza's mother — killed by a relative or someone known to them. When the study was published, lead author Arthur Kellermann told the media, “The risks of keeping guns in the home substantially outweigh the potential benefits in terms of safety. We did not find any evidence of a protective effect of gun ownership, even following forced entry into the home or actively resisting an assailant.’’

George Washington would shoot all of you traitors in the back.
Imagine if boxes arguments were used during the Revolution, the militia and regulars just took a field from the British and 2 cannons were left behind by them, one guy calls for taking the cannons to use for themselves to help the cause but then some whiny person like box makes an argument that they're illegal, orders from King George Yup he would be shot right there
