First off he would need to own the buildings to owe PROPERTY TAXES, therefore all this information is invalid. Secondly do any of you personally know this man and his credit situations or any situations with the city? All we know is that the city allowed him to open with valid health inspections and codes, if they allowed him to open, it must mean he doesn't have warrants for bad taxes seeing as how the city obviously knows where he is located since he has been there for the past however many months and has attained all proper documentation to open legally. I have personally owned small businesses in the cosmetology field and know how difficult it is to open and sustain a small business, if all of you think it's so easy, especially in the state of NY, why don't you all try and see how far you get???

Poperty taxes are paid on more than business...correct? From what I've read (and I don't know the facts), it could very well be his personal home that he owes taxes on, or rental property....would that be a possible answer?

In keeping with the principles and mission statement of this forum, could you provide factual information which supports and substantiates the claims you have made herein?

If that were a requirement for posting, then DVOR (who has jumped on the bandwagon by giving you and Bobcat a +1 reputation simply because he hates MC1) would not be able to post anything!!!!

I hope that is the general consensus and he succeeds. I know Randy and don't wish him ill...but the positive reviews need to be sustained for a awhile before I wil venture over.  That's just my personal opinion.

I have no idea what you keep implying about metroplex/gillen? But it has nothing to do with what anyone is accusing/or saying about this business, and I personally have never gone through anything getting free money. I have worked every day of my life since I was 15 and worked VERY hard for all I have accomplished with my small business. This man worked for months to build this new restaurant doesn't that gain any respect? I personally could not put together or create a restaurant with my two bare hands, that is work in and of itself. No one is using any system to get free money to start small businesses and in this economy no one is giving out free money to start or sustain small businesses, especially in the restaurant field.

As far as we all know, the Dolce Vita restaurant is not getting any taxpayer money via Metroplex.   We'll all accept that as fact.

We understand how the restaurant closed at it's former location near Balltown Rd, it apparently was not any fault of the restaurant owner but rather a choice of the property owner to sell, whatever.

So the owner of the restaurant (Loren) finds another location to rent from, that's fine.  We'll give him all the benefit of the doubt that he has a good relationship with the owner of that property who is allowing Loren to remodel, etc

I believe we on the board question how a supposed businessman (Loren) could possibly get scammed, not just once, but TWICE!   Any REAL businessman does not get scammed, or very few.   A businessman hires a contractor to perform a service.  First the businessman (Loren) would check references, ask for a copy of the contractor's insurance certificate, contact the BBB, check through the AG's office, etc. DUH!    AND furthermore, a wise businessman, pays when the job is complete.   How many times does the local news do a feature on some scammer?   A real, and good businessman does his/her homework, and you don't even need that "Angie's List"

Bartering is stupid.    WHY would good businessman not be able to have work done the normal way?   No money in the bank?   So a businessman applies for a loan and then hires reputable people.

But when one can't get a loan it could be because their credit is bad.   I'm sure when a businessman owes tens of thousands to the state (i.e., the taxpayers of the state), that goes on the person's credit report.    Ditto for any civil suits from vendor's he has done business with.     And what reputable intelligent businessman acts as his own legal representative as a defendant instead of hiring an attorney?

Lack of attorney is a known fact.  Civil suits are a known fact, people with intelligence know how to find the information

Lack of doing the normal thing to pay for things for the new place (via withdraw from bank, apply for financing) is presumed based on the constant pleas from a man who sounds desparate, i.e., the pleas posted on the FB site seeking help and even more showing from the pleas for handouts form those scamming websites, e.g, the desired $250,000 grant from a Chase bank website.

Owing money to the taxpayers of the state of NY is a known fact, people with intelligence know how to find the information

Lack of customers since the re-opening is based on observation from people who post here, do we need to go to the extreme of posting photos?

Other than that, hey, fine if he succeeds, just hope he pays the taxpayers back before anything else.

City government and state government are two separate taxing entities.  Unfortunately, they don't communicate with each other, otherwise the city would be seeking the money owed to it through "unclaimed funds."

And the CITY building code inspectors job is to inspect building codes, NOT to obtain payment on STATE taxes.

Oh, Joe, it's quite obvious that bobcat is just another imaginary friend of DV.   I mean, bobcat only joined today, posted just an hour ago with a comment favorable to DV, and then coincidentally DV has enough time to already give bobcat a positive reputation vote?

DV really thinks we are that stupid that we don't see how he creates other names?

I have no idea who DVOR is, I simply came upon this post looking through the site as I joined today. I read through the posts and posted my observations of what I've seen being a resident in the community. Maybe they gave me a positive reputation because I'm not bashing someone I dont know, I'm stating facts that I have seen not just heard or assumed and have reason and logic to believe that from personal experience owning a business is not what most believe it to be and if there is a need to get work done, many don't have weeks to research people and do back ground checks so they go with good faith that there are still honest and reliable people in this world.
