This is yet another reason to not vote for dems....at least not in rotterdam!! It is apparent that since TJ Hooker is in control, it is obvious in what direction they will sway. It won't be to benefit the taxpayers in rotterdam.

It also appears that FDG is the ONLY one who will not walk in lock step with the dem's agenda.

Well at least not the Dems in lockstep with TJ's destructive intentions...and at this time, the only Board Member who does and
is a true Dem is Wayne Calder...ND and FDG won't give them the time of day...ND has already told them to buzz off...and FDG
will do the same...watch tomorrow's news...if everything goes as I expect, many will be stunned.

09. What is "vig"?

Vig, which is short for vigorish, is a term used to describe the book's theoretical edge, or commission, on each betting online wager. It is also sometimes referred to as the book's hold, particularly when looking at futures markets. For spread betting, balanced action would result in 11 dollars bet on each side (as an example) for a total of 22. As long as there isn't a push, the winner would be paid 21 and the book would keep 1. This 1/22 that is the book's commission is called the vig.

Most express it as a percentage. In this case, for spread betting, it is 4.545%. To compare to some popular casino gambling games, the vig in craps is approx. 1/72 (1.389%) and in roulette gambling it is 2/38 (5.26%) on a double zero wheel. It is a representation of the house's long term betting edge over time based on the mathematics of the game. Each and every gambling strategy has this "vig" inherent in it, barring a push.

In order for a bettor to win, he must win an adjusted percentage high enough to overcome or counteract this vig. For spread betting, at typical "lay prices" of -110 each way, that magic number is 52.38%. This break even percentage is what you need to surpass long term to win.

One interesting side note is that the farther away from even a money sports betting line goes, if the differential is held constant, the less vig is inherent. That is, the sports book is skimming a higher percentage of the players' money (assuming balanced action) on sports betting lines of -110/-110 than -130/+110, -160/+140, etc. This is why books have "break points" along the way where the differential is increased. So it might be a 20 cent differential up to -149/+129, then a 30 cent differential up to -199/+169, then 40 cents, etc.

A place like Canbet is a little unusual in that it keeps the vig percentage constant, so the differential expands gradually, making all the sport bedding odds along the way identically favorable (except for slight rounding) to the -110/-110 starting point (-107/-107 for some sports). I can see the fairness in this, but obviously a bettor would prefer keeping the differential constant, as something like -200/+180 odds carries with it very little vig.

Kudos to T Koza for his comments and for standing his ground when told by FDG that his time was up.  Now we need the Ethics Board to act on his letter.

And the lawyer for the Westside Ave residents really dropped a bombshell on the Race Track (that isn't a race track).  Good show, Andy!

******CORRECTION**********

Earlier today I was Notified by Mr Derosia Associate Counsel of the NYS Dept. of State
that the Town of Rotterdam is a "Suburban Town"
this piece of information was found on a paper document dated 1964

and by delegating a few more specific powers, the Suburban
Town Law gives the supervisor a bit more authority.
Although designated as “chief executive officer,” however,
the Suburban Town supervisor has no major new executive powers

Thus here is the NYS town law on the duties of supervisor a “suburban town”

******************************************************************************
§  52. Supervisor. The supervisor shall be the chief executive officer
of a suburban town  and  head  of  the  administrative  branch  of  town
government.  He  shall  be  responsible for the proper administration of
town affairs, law enforcement and the maintenance of peace and order  in
the  town.  Except  as  otherwise  provided  in  this  article  or other
applicable law, in addition to the functions, powers  and  duties  of  a
supervisor  as provided by this chapter and other laws of the state, the
supervisor shall have the following functions, powers and duties:

               1. Appoint, and at pleasure remove, a director of  finance  who  shall
assist  the  supervisor in the preparation of the preliminary budget and
the capital budget, if any, and in the administration  of  other  fiscal
operations of the town for which the supervisor is responsible.

               2. On the basis of estimates submitted to him by departments, agencies
and officers of the town, prepare annually the preliminary budget of the
town   and   submit  it  to  the  town  board  and  be  responsible  for
administration of the annual budget after adoption by  the  town  board,
and  be responsible for recommending modifications and transfers between
appropriations in such budget during the fiscal year.

               3. Where the town board has,  by  local  law,  established  a  capital
budget  procedure,  on  the  basis  of  estimates  submitted  to  him by
departments, agencies  and  officers  of  the  town,  prepare  with  the
assistance of the planning board, if any, a proposed capital budget and,
after  adoption  of  a  capital  budget by the town board, recommend for
action by the board, from time to time when necessary, modifications and
transfers between appropriations in such capital budget.

               4. Bring removal charges against the appointive head or deputy head of
any department of town government for hearing and determination by  the
town board.

               5.  Approve  the  transfer  of  personnel  in  and  among agencies and
  departments of the town.

               6. Provide for and direct the internal organization and reorganization
within individual town departments or  agencies  where  consistent  with
applicable  law,  provided,  however,  that  in  any  event, permissible
transfers of functions between departments or agencies shall be  subject
to approval of the town board.

               7.  Keep the town board informed generally concerning town affairs and
of the financial condition and future needs of the town  and  make  such
recommendations as may seem to him desirable.
*********************************************************************************

the above information will be sent to the ethics board for their review

so one can see:

in bullet 4 the supervisor may bring removal charges of a dept head to the town board for their direction - not remove a dept head

in bullet 5 the supervisor my approve the transfer of employees - not direct them

in bullet 6 the supervisor my direct re/organazation of departments with town board approval - not re/organize on their own

Wow really?  The seniors love her!  They thank her for filing
grievances against EE and getting her out of office! People
at town hall and the senior center only have nice things to
say about her.  So blow smoke up your own a$$!  Better
yet go to the senior center and call her an a$$hole to her
face.  She could wipe the floor with you! IMO!

Hey Koza......quit making an a-s-s out of yourself.  There is case law that upholds a Supervisor's decision to remove and transfer employees and shut down a wack job husband, of a town employee, from rambling on for well over ten minutes at a Town Meeting.  You were told nicely that your stupid ramblings were during the time for personel issues.  Get real dude.  Are you as stupid as you sound and look?  And to think your "info" had nothing to do with the "suburban" Rotterdam.  Who was the legal beagle behind that move.  God I hope she doesn't work for the Town Court.  Bahahahahah

You are a total fool who lost all credibility with the public with your recent antics!!!

Well, they are supposed to post the job to take the "politics" out of it.  However, FDG stated very clearly for the record, that JD would get it no matter what.
