The REAL issue is the track record of these 2 elected officials ... their actions and inactions are what has hurt our town's residents and hurt our town's businesses.

Actually, you and your ilk are the ones going around bashing businesses by name --- there is ample proof of that on this website.  You folks have bashed   Proctor's, Recovery Room and a number of other establishments.

My stating that I prefer some OTHER candy store or talking about BBQ in general is NOT bashing any business.

We're bashing the fact that they're taking millions of dollars from taxpayers and giving nothing back to the community. Hiring 5 cocktail waitresses doesn't count as job creation when they're earning $3/hr.

We're bashing Proctors when the CEO is collecting >$1million a year, has multiple houses, received tax exemptions on multiple properties and does nothing for the community that doesn't make him money.

We're bashing Metroplex for stealing tax money and giving it to empty holes - businesses that file bankruptcy, businesses that never open, etc.

You are publicly bashing candy stores and other businesses simply because they offended your auntie or got your panties in a bunch.

There's quite a difference Ron - wake up.

The facts are

#1 -  I was appointed Town Historian on January 1, 2011 --- so I did not have over a year to pick up any materials.

#2 - Much of the town's historic materials are safely located at town hall and the senior center ...  the only materials in the Junction were those in the possession of the previous Town Historian and the Rotterdam Junction Historical Society  .... and I was told in January that those materials were going to be given to the Franchere Center when it opened.

#3 - I was out of town when Hurricane Irene hit ... and no effort was made to contact me until  2 days before I returned to town (which was over 10 days AFTER the flooding began) .... at that time I made arrangements for town personnel to go to the junction and retrieve the materials and bring them to safety at the senior center but the custodians of the materials refused to let them be taken by town personnel to the senior center.

OK, so just questioning on the information in the above post, can you please look at this and figure out this for me...
A.  You admit that you are the official historian effective 1/1/11.

B.  You admit that you knew there were documents that were important to the history of Rotterdam and you knew effective the beginning of the year that these documents were in Rotterdam Junction.

C.  You were told greater than 8 months ago that there were documents in Rotterdam Junction and you had not taken the time personally go to and inspect and/or pick up these documents withing the previous 8 months of your tenure.

D.  You state that no attempt was made to contact you until 10 days after the flooding of the area where you knew that documentation that should have been in your possession existed.

Question 1.  Why, some time in the past 8 months, did you not contact the party with this documentation in Rotterdam Junction and personally set up a time to pick it up?

Question 2.  Flooding of Rotterdam Junction and Schoharie County was well known in the area, and in fact was pictured on national newspapers (see the photos that I believe were in the NY Post).  Also, as the official historian, I would guess that you know some of the local history, including the type of flooding that can happen in the Schoharie Creek, which empties into the Mohawk River.  Why is it that you waited for someone to contact you, being that you are the one that is in charge of this information, and didn't reach out to find out the status of these items, and didn't have a local contact that these could be taken to, since you left them sitting out where this could happen for more than a half a year?

Question 2A.  Who is it that you contacted when you realized it had been a week and a half since the flood and found out that there was an issue, and why weren't they able to do anything?  Is the Historical Society only one person?  Did you not contact anyone in the meantime to find out what was happening?

Question 3.  More of a sidenote, but what is the Franchere Center and when and where is (or was) it supposed to open?

I'm attacking your qualifications and ability to do the job you were appointed to do - and ridiculing you with exposing the lies you're spreading. People are seeing through you .. which isn't easy.

Question 3.  More of a sidenote, but what is the Franchere Center and when and where is (or was) it supposed to open?

Question 1 - the documents were the personal collection of the previous town historian who had indicated to me that he was NOT giving them to the town but to the Franchere Center  (which is building being built by the County Historical Society next to Mabee Farm)  ..   the collection was NOT official town records or part of the town's collection (the official town records and town historical collection is safely housed at the town hall and the senior center)  ------   there is also the issue of having adequate/appropriate space to  the town's historical records and collection  ...  the records/collection housed in the senior center are in the basement of the senior center  and the records in town hall are in the basement of that building  -- I have asked town officials several times if a more appropriate space  (higher level with fireproof door, etc) could be found to not only house the materials but actually allow some or all of the material to be publicly displayed or available for public viewing.

Question 2 and 2a -  I never left anything "setting out" somewhere as the collection belonged to someone else .. and  as for the time that Irene hit  ... I was out of state.   The town has my home # and my cell # .... no one contacted me ..   I did make phone calls to inquire about the situation in the junction regarding Woestina Park  (because of my role on the Parks Commission).     It was not until the Tuesday after Labor Day that I was contacted by telephone about the collection in the junction  ... and I was not given a number to contact the person(s) in the junction directly.    As I was still out of state, I made arrangements for a town employee to pick up the collection and bring it to safety in the senior center --- and as I have said previously the owner/holder of the collection chose to NOT allow the collection to be transferred to the senior center.

Question 3 -- the Franchere Center is being built by the Schenectady County Historical Society next to Mabee Farm .. it looks like it very near completion but I don't know when it will be opening.

Buffoon-man-boy defends his laziness to the 10th power! All of a sudden the previous historian broke down and gave the records to the town after supposedly "refusing" to before? Something doesn't smell right.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
