I never put the word Paolino in that quote -- you did -- so I have nothing to take back.
this is what you posted on 9/3/10 http://www.rotterdamny.info/m-1277832253/s-141/#num141Let's not split hairs here. Perhaps you didn't use PAOLINO, but instead used SUPERVISOR! PAOLINO WAS THE SUPERVISOR!!!
They wanted to relocate within the town -- and it was blocked by the then supervisor.

Yes .. lets NOT split hairs .. the GOP which controlled the Town Board for the last part of the Paolino Administration used its political muscle to strong arm other boards/commissions to block the ability of Villa Italia to relocate WITHIN Rotterdam. Therefore, it was the "previous administration's" fault -- Tomassone was part of that GOP town board majority and part of the GOP "machine" that through its strong arm tactics forced a good town business to seek another place to do business. |

When the CONGRESS during Reagan ran up the debt, it was REAGAN who gets the blame. When things go good, the EXECUTIVE gets the credit. But in the case of this- you want the democraps to be the heroes even though THEIR GUY was in office! The board doesn't control the building department. The Board also included John Mertz who is a bosom buddy of Mallozzi, and of course Holly Vellono who has no animus towards them! This is an entire fabrication in some democrap rumor monger's mind! No you are latching on! Why don't you PROVE how they got stifled, because it is a ridiculous claim that I venture was dreamed up by the county democraps to make Mallozzi feel threatened by the GOP. One board member- Steve Tommasone, could NOT have had the clout to stop them from expanding, but what happened was that a huge pilot and various grants were thrown at them to move downtown, including a ZERO INTEREST TWENTY YEAR MORTGAGE (which incidentally if you received from your family member, would incur a goft tax from the taxing authorities.)
So stop the bull already with the rewrite of history. The total benefit was pushing 7 figures, and they weren't getting that from Rotterdam. |

Yes, I put Paolino there, because in your "blame the last administration" frenzy, you obviously were intentionally or unintentionally misleading the forum readers. Your screen name should be changed to - Democratvoiceof unreason. In spite of the overwhelming facts, you still choose to toe the party line. Voice of reason...Ha! Unlikely. |

DVR is just a party loyalist which only means 'no change' for rotterdam! He supports Susan Savage for God's sake!!! He supports the redistribution of wealth by means of government extortion (metroplex). His idea of economic growth is NON PROFITS and GIN MILLS! Schenectady (city) brought in gin mill BECAUSE they didn't have any!!! Bringing them into rotterdam will only hurt the already, privately owned, small bars/sports bars.......who NEVER took a dime, by extortion, from the taxpayers, under the guise of Metroplex. THAT is what DVR supports!!! |

Actually, we are supporting a lot of positive change for Rotterdam. I don't believe in the redistribution of wealth .. nor extortion.. Metroplex is a legal entity promoting positive economic developments. My idea of economic growth is commercial development - never been much for "gin mills" -- I would have preferred a WalGreens on the site but the GOP putzes .. I mean previous administration .. screwed that one up. Since there is no better plan on the table .. the Recovery Room and bank will have to do. |

Actually, DVOR, I think that was a state issue, as there was clearance issues, where they would have had to take part of Curry Road in order to have enough room to put in the appropriate amount of parking. Curry Road (Rt. 7), I believe is a state road, so that wasn't a fault of the town, it was just poor planning and not getting the clearance from the proper authorities. |

How did the reps screw the walgreens proposal up? Because they didn't offer them (a private transaction) any taxpayer's money? |

Great idea - it will clean up an eye sore .. bring over 200 jobs into the town. Generate potential customer traffic that will help boost business along the Curry Road/Altamont Avenue Corridor.
Can we send you the property and school tax bill to pay, rather than burdening us with those costs? |

I am not sure that MOST residents of Glenville are happy to see the new nursing place go out of town .. I think it is more a very small but vocal group. |

I think you should send the property and school tax bill to Golub Corporation. You can go back and check the recordings of old town board meetings .. but I actually OPPOSED the town accepting that piece of land as a "gift" from the Golub Corporation. Too many strings were attached to the deal. Basically - the only commercial development that could be built there .. is very restricted by the terms that Golub set when it gave the property. The town accepted it -- thinking it would be the site for a municipal center (which would have been OFF the tax rolls anyway). If you can't build much of anything commercial -- and some people say we have too many apartments and condos -- what does that leave us in the way of options? The County Nursing Home would be a good option - given that the original intent was to use the site for a non-taxable municipal center anyway. |

A new shopping plaza should be built in Curry Road Plaza, and the businesses located along Curry road between Four Corners and the railroad bridge under pass should be encouraged to move into the new plaza with help from Metroplex. Then the town can begin working toward widening that part of Curry Road for real long term "economic development".(I would support subsidizing displaced business for the reason of widening roadways).
Instead, we talk about Gin Mills and Dog Parks. |
