"The REPS can work with the Tea Party movement or dismiss them and be defeated" Brad Littlefield,

They have an opportunity at the REP Sunday sitdown to either change leadership, work with Tea Part patriots, start winning-OR-do nothing and keep imploding. It's that simple-the status quo is not an option. Take the olive branch out of the car and present it to NNTP leaders.

No olive branch is needed.(I don't even like that term...'olive branch') Just a change in rep leadership. Buchanan and parisi have obviously burned too many unrepairable bridges. There appears to be nothing to build on in the existing rep party. The rep party has clearly divided itself. And ya know what they say about a house divided?

The political landscape is continually changing. And we need to change accordingly. IMHO

Bumble ~ I think you're right.

I don't believe the NNTP leadership needs to ask for anything ~ BUT ~ if the Reps want their support they are going to have to get their house in order first.

Also ~ the name of this thread is "Republican & NTTP Joining Forces?"  ~ I would hope the Reps don't think they can fold the NNTP into the Rep party.  IF the NNTP decides to work with the Reps ~ it should be just like any other minor party.  Difference here is that whichever major party candidates gets the NNTP endorsement will win.

Well BT, Jim Jones was a leader and how many followed him to their death.  This is a democratic society and not a kingdom.  My choice of leader listens and tries to gather concensus and does not ignore people that have technical background or knowledge on issues when in government.

I'm looking for the same type of traits in a party chair.

Candidate selection is tough and the Reps missed a few good ones that went off on their own through the NNTP.  We need solidarity with them for the sake of the voters and future generations.

And in addition to yesterday's headline on dogs, cats rule their owner and dogs follow their owner!

woof, woof

The problem with your Jim Jones example is that a pretty large number of his followers drank that kool-aid with the barrel of a gun pointed at them and their choice was drink it or we'll shoot you.

Come on huskey.....Aren't you stretching it a bit here? Religion is an animal of a different color than     politics. You are mixing apples and oranges.

When looking for a political leader, it clearly should be based solidly in ideology. One that will not compromise the parties ideology and integrity for special interest groups, political or personal motivations or for 'pay to play' tactics. A leader who has the ability to energize the people of that party with the ability to bring new members that are like minded. (in ideology)

A Jim Jones comparison is just unrealistic! IMHO

Didn't you say in a prior post that you voted for the current party chair because lack of choices.  Or the Republican party's "Jim Jones" so to say. He led a whole slate of Republican candidates to their political deaths.  A party isn't a democratic society, it's a party, and organization. You listen to the committee's suggestions and ideas and find as much common ground as you can, but ultimately a decision has to be made in what direction to go in, and by making tough decisions you're going to upset somebody.  That's all part of being a leader.

The current Republican Chair made decisions that blew up the party in Schenectady County.  And you voted for him.  But at least he listen.

You can't rebuild on a collapsed foundation. John Mertz as new REP Chair would solve many problems. Right away you have a real leader who stood up for the sheeple taxpayers against the REMS tax. Mertz never eats alone and is very well respected in NNTP/State REP circles.

Whatever they do they must expand the REP tent by including Tea Party patriots, NNTP and fiscal CONS. If they continue with the BS pressers and no resignations-the REP implosion will continue.

Of course I'm stretching it BT, I was just illustrating how following a leader can be a bag thing.  A leader does make the final decision and take the credit or fault for its outcome. And yes Cicero, you'll make some happy and some unhappy.

As for John Mertz, he wasn't at the meeting that reappointed Tom as Co. chair in August. John or anyone else interested needs to voice their desire for the seat and let's put it up for another vote.  Us yapping about it on this forum isn't going to effectuate the change we need.  Same thing goes for town chair.  Speak up and let's get it up for a vote.  If we go on the way we are currently, there be nothing left to divide.

So John if you are out there reading this, jump up and challenge Tom.

Definition of leader on the Web:
A person who rules or guides or inspires others
A leader by its meaning is one who goes first and leads by example, so that others are motivated to follow him. This is a basic requirement. To be a leader, a person must have a deep-rooted commitment to the goal that he will strive to achieve it even if nobody follows him!

Well, he got that "nobody follows him" part down. Goals and inspiration are more illusive. Was at a meeting with several long time REP committeeman. They haven't had a meeting in over two years. Brad has it right-either reach out to Tea Party Patriots or completely implode.

I’m sorry, but I find Brad to be slightly disingenuous here. Seems like
his real goal is trying to get himself and his friends added power. Why
should the Republicans now welcome the people into the party who are
hell-bent on destroying them? From what I’ve heard, the Republicans have
tried to talk with the NNTP and the NNTP basically said that unless they
are in charge they will continue to sink Republicans. This looks to me
like the NNTP doesn’t have the support to actually win anything so their
goal is to threaten Republican candidates that if they run as
Republicans, they will lose because NNTP will continue to run candidates
to take just enough votes to allow the Democrats to win, in hopes that
these underhanded actions will allow the NNTP to take over the
Republican Party. Perhaps the NNTP is really an arm of the Democratic
Party????
