I just received Mr.Kosiurs flyer that talks about healthcare for the elderly.....I quote

"Ed Kosieur knows that a true commitment to quality healthcare means a whole lot more than a campaign promise. As the father of three daughters and a loving husband, Ed understands the fear we face when someone  close to us is sick. That's why he has fought so hard to preserve quality care, especially for the elderly. And it's why he is doing everything possible to make sure all we have to focus on is the healing."

I will paraphrase the rest
-adequate funding for healthcare
-universal health care
-child health plus and family health plus
-life-saving tests

I have an idea----find out what is making us sick.....would it be those additives in our food, pesticides etc.....all those things that keep the economy running that I'm sure you are also invested into---ie:pensions,401k via stocks etc.......

BTW--elderly folks are not sick they are OLD.....just like we ALL GET TO BE THERE SOMEDAY......we cant beat the clock......

Um...how does he being married and having 3 daughters give him any qualifications on the elderly?  Are his 3 daughters older than he is?  Was his wife a cradle robber, so he knows right in his own home about the elderly and the care they need?

I think it is a biased statement due to society's accepted caretaker roles......mostly women are primary caretakers?? Not to mention his wife is a nurse.....I dont know what the daughters want to do when they graduate college/high school, but no one is voting for them..

This is exactly my point...How the hell is this guy going to fund all of these programs? RAISE TAXES!!!! How about teaching people to take care of themselves. We plunge tons of taxpayers money to many people who 'could' if they 'chose' to get a job with medical benefits. But NOOOOOO...... Let the taxpayer foot the bill. Come on here folks...if ya don't work...ya don't eat..or in this case, get medical benefits.

In some univeral health care countries...if you don't work...you are not intitled to any government benefits! Now IF we MUST go to univeral health care...and I pray to God we don't....Every single recipient of government programs better be working or if seniors, have worked in their younger days!

Okay...2 minutes ago I got a phone call from a woman who asked for me by name and asked if they could count on me to vote for Kosiur next Tues.. I said 'NO'. She sarcastically said 'thank you' and hung up.

Also, might I add here that Mr. Kosiur and Susan Savage was at Railex today. They were either filming or taking pictures for a campaign ad. Suzie seems to be his PR person these days. Well anywyas she discussed the sex offender law with some folks, I guess. Now what I am about to say, I do not understand at all since I don't know this part of the sex offender law. She said that the state 'dumps' sex offenders into Schenectady. Now how that happens, I really don't know. Was she saying that the 'state' actually 'forces' sex offenders to move to Schenectady? I highly doubt that one. But anyways, she said that part of the reasoning for the passage of this bill, was that if these sex offenders tried to move to the burbs, and buy a home, there wouldn't be a bank out there that would give a sex offender a mortgage. Now again...I'm not a fan of sex offenders, but I am a fan of the constitution and what is legal. This ain't soundin' too constitutional or legal to me. I hope suzie repeats this when they are all brough up on charges through the ACLU.

Okay...while I was posting this, I got another phone call. This time they asked for a male voter in the house since they met their female quota!! But they wanted to know who you would be voting for 7/31/07. Of course it was Mr. Amedore. Boy...Mr. Kosiur must be feeling just a wee bit underconfident these days. And if he keeps hanging around with Suzie Savage...that clearly ain't gonna win him no votes. (gee...I need an English lesson )

My wife told me a little story when I got home from work today.  She said she got a call from a poller asking her a few different questions on where she stood on the issues.  Well, she decided to give them the exact OPPOSITE answers of what she actually believed.  Then, they got to the final question, and the person was probably so happy until they heard her answer.
She told them that she was going to vote for Mr. Amedore and I'm sure they looked something like this at the other end of the phone...

Okay...just got my THIRD poll phone call tonight. All pretty much the same stuff. Ya know, who would I vote for, what I thought of the sex offender law, who would be best qualified blah blah blah! But this one was a wee bit different, as they asked more intellegent question such as: if I knew the date of this election, how many years of school I finished, my party affiliation, how many elections I vote in etc.... In the end they wanted my age, which I gave them, if I was married and any children under 18 at home and lastly they wanted my first name, at which time I said 'NO'.

I have to say it was slanted toward Kosiur questions for sure!

Kosiur releases plan to create jobs
BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter

Democratic state Assembly candidate Edward Kosiur on Monday released a 10-point plan he said would create jobs and lower property taxes within the 105th Assembly District.
The plan offers original initiatives in addition to proposing changes in existing state economic development programs.
“The goal of my jobs plan is to improve the business climate and create high-paying jobs for our working families,” Koisur said during a news conference inside the sprawling RailEx facility in Rotterdam Industrial Park.
“These measures, along with business tax cuts and the continuation of the state’s low-cost power programs, will help our local economies and create goodpaying jobs for our residents,” he said.
   Kosiur’s proposals include:
Redirecting state brownfi eld credits to upstate communities and imposing stricter job-creation requirements for downstate projects.
Consolidating economic development programs in Montgomery County, similar to what occurred in Schenectady County.
Increasing job accountabilty standards in the Empire Zone Program.
Offering businesses incentives to immediately buy or lease vacated buildings.
Creating a code of ethics for companies taking economic development incentives.
“The bottom line is to cut taxes and create good-paying jobs,” Kosiur said.
Republican George Amedore Jr., also seeking the 105th seat, praised some of Kosiur’s proposals, including those to reform the Empire Zone and brownfield programs.
However, Amedore, who released his own five-point proposal July 12, said the biggest impediments to job creation “for our region have been over-regulation and high taxation.”
He said Kosiur has “contributed to this problem by voting to raise taxes in Schenectady County on numerous occasions. “That’s why we have the highest taxes in the nation, and that’s why we need to change.”
Kosir said Republicans are distorting his record. He said he lowered or stabilized property taxes while on the county Legislature. The taxes Republicans said Kosiur increased were to add a 30-cent fee on cellphones to pay for the county’s E-911 system; to increase the mortgage recording tax by 25 cents per $1; to reauthorize a one-half of 1 percentage point continuation of the county’s sales tax, which is used to fund Metroplex Development Authority; and to reinstate the county’s portion of the sales tax on motor fuel sales above $2 per gallon. These proposals, Kosiur said, funded public safety and made possible reductions in the county property tax levy.
Amedore, 38, of Rotterdam, is executive vice president of Amedore Homes, a company started by his father, George Sr. Kosiur, 51, of Schenectady, is director of teen employment with the Boys & Girls Club of Schenectady and represents the city in the county Legislature.
Both men are vying for the seat vacated by Paul Tonko, who left the Assembly to head the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. Tonko, a Democrat, has been campaigning with Kosiur.
Koisur said he developed his jobs program in cooperation with Gary Hughes, a fellow Schenectady County legislator. Hughes is chairman of the county Legislature’s Economic Development Committee. Koisur is vice chairman of the county Legislature, serving out his first four-year term.
REFLECTS METROPLEX
Many of Kosiur’s initiatives mirror concepts advanced by the county’s top economic development official, Ray Gillen. Gillen chairs the Metroplex Development Authority and is county commissioner of economic development and planning.
Under Gillen, Schenectady County has witnessed $200 million in investment and the proposed creation of some 2,000 jobs. Gillen is credited with consolidating economic development efforts in the county and with using Metroplex to leverage additional private and state investments. Metroplex is supported by a portion of the county’s sales tax and is able to bond up to $50 million.
Democrats, including Kosiur, take credit for Schenectady’s revitalization because they recruited Gillen from his longtime economic development position with the state when they took control of the county Legislature 3 1 /2 years ago.
“We supported Gillen’s efforts; we made the change at the top and brought him here,” Kosiur said.
Now, as an Assembly candidate, Kosiur said he wants to continue “to bring what has been successful in Schenectady County to the entire 105th district.” With his plan, he said, “there is no need to reinvent the wheel” for economic development.
Kosiur said as a part of the Democratic majority in the state Assembly, he would work to ensure that state tax credits and other incentives flow to the proposed redevelopment of the former Alco site in Schenectady and to the soon-to-be empty Beech-Nut plant in Canajoharie.
A private developer plans to convert the former Alco industrial site off Erie Boulevard into a mixed-use parcel filled with homes and businesses. The developer plans to use private and state funds to rehabilitate the site.
Beech-Nut plans to vacate its long-time baby-food processing plant in Canajoharie for a new site in the town of Florida, using state incentives. Kosiur is proposing to convert the former plant into a facility that processes local produce, perhaps to be used by Beech-Nut.
Amedore’s economic development plans calls for eliminating tolls between exits 23 and 29 of the Thruway; creating an ethanol production facility in the Mohawk Valley; having local community colleges offer 2-year degrees in high-tech programs; improving the state Brownfield program so that it targets former industrial sites for high-tech manufacturing and other uses; and capping property taxes, eliminating the corporate franchise tax, lowering small business taxes and strengthening the Empire Zone program.

Well this is clearly an oxymoron, .....'moron'! How is he going to 'cut taxes' when in his previous campaign jabber, he wants to create more government programs? And as far as Railex goes, it created 200 jobs that he clearly can not take credit for. The reps and our Rotterdam Town majority had a large hand in this and I don't see them out there having to toot their own horn. Is Kosiur that desperate that he must exagerate the truths?

Like I said  before...I really don't know how well Amedore will do since he is starting with a clean slate...but clearly Kosiur is NOT the man for the job who surely does NOT have a clean slate. Come on people...just look at Schenectady. His only way to pull ahead in this election is to detach himself from the mess the residents face in the City of Schenectady. Remember...most of Schenectady's (city) residents are on subsidised government programs eg:Welfare, Section 8, unemployment.....so of course they would sway the Kosiur way! Is that what we want Rotterdam to end up being like? Cause it will!!!

This is all political spin on Kosiur's part, say anything to win the election then do what you want and to heck with what the residents want.

Bk if you notice Kosiur only wants to take credit for the good things that happened in the county and none of the bad things which by the way far out number the good things.
