I just heard a Kosiur commercial on the radio. It was saying how now our children can feel safer playing in their front yard.

Is he kidding? So when the sex offenders wake up in the townships of Rotterdam, Duanesburg, Princetown, Amsterdam etc....Mr. Kosiur can guarantee that these sex offenders won't be riding walking or jogging or even working anywhere near these kids 'front yards' in Schenectady.

Mr. Kosiur's campaign commercial should really not be making that kind of a statement. It really is giving these residents a 'false' sense of security and a safety that no one can guarantee. Not to mention the 'fear tactics being used here!!

I heard it this morning on my way to work. It's sickening! I posted my thoughts about it on my blog at http://patzollinger.us/blog/?p=245

Well...this blog just about says it all, huh?

And I rec'd an anti-kosiur mailer today. It was excellent. I really hope that the voting people will really read these 'facts', tell their family and friends and most importantly....remember these things when you go to vote!

I tried to copy and paste it on the site but it won't let me do it. The heading at the top of the page says Ed Kosiur: A long track record of HIGHER TAXES. Voted to increase property taxes by over 6.6 million. Voted to reinstate the tax on gasoline even though New Yorkers pay some of the highest gas taxes in the nation. Voted to increase cell phone taxes. Voted to increase taxes on home mortgages. Voted 4 times to impose an additional sales tax. It also lists the resolutions that the votes were taken on county resolutions 146-04: 183-06:221-06: 036-05:055-05,081-05,157-05,076-07, in the order and year they were passed.

And yet the man is campaigning on a platform of creating new programs. Who the heck do you think will pay for these new programs? Yup...the taxpayers! And PatZ may be right when she says he deals with kids cause he can't with adults. Sure, if you are on the receiving end of the taxpayers dollar, you'll vote for him...but if you are on the 'over' giving end of the taxpayers dollar...you will clearly NOT vote for him!

I got a call from my old union tonight asking me to vote for good old ED for Assembly because he's going to protect pensions, keep healthcare benefits for union members, and try to save jobs and wages. The unions are backing the Dems hoping to get some more pull in politics.

Here we go again. Another idiot politicians jumping on the "sex offender" bandwagon to "look good" to you and get your vote. This is totally shameful. I'm sure the "sheeple" will fall for it as well.

07/14/2007

Ed Kosiur says he’ll take his crusade against sex offenders to the state Assembly if he’s elected in a July 31 special election for the 105th district.

The Schenectady County legislator called it a good day when Alan Horowitz, an Ivy League educated former child psychiatrist convicted of child molestation, was off the streets again.

“The story of convicted sex predator Alan Horowitz fleeing the country and being on the run for several years is a disturbing one,” said Kosiur, a Schenectady Democrat who hopes to fill the recently vacated Paul Tonko seat. “It’s another example of why we as a elected officials need to do more to keep our families and children safe.”
- So why don't you tell us how you might do that? Nothing you do will protect children. You just want to fatten your wallet as the gullible sheeple buy into your BS!

Kosiur, the man behind the county’s new sex offender residency law, said he would introduce legislation in the Assembly to impose longer sentences for sex offenders and require closer monitoring of offenders on parole.
- These are already in effect. Just look up the laws yourself. Not much more he could do.

The new law, described by some Kosiur campaign ads as the toughest in the state, bans all levels of sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of any school, daycare center, playground, swimming pool, park, or youth center.
- Every state around the country says that, because you buy into it. Just read the news, check this blog, you will see I'm not lying.

It doesn’t just prohibit sex offenders from moving into those locations, it’s in fact requires all the ones currently living in those places to move. It leaves only a small portion of the town of Duanesburg for sex offenders to live within county borders.

Here's the rest of today's mail... First, the "Save the Children" mailer from the Kosiur Camp.

The next one was actually from the New York Republican State Committee (Not paid for at taxpayer expense per the top right corner of the address side.

In the small text next to each line, it states the resolution where Mr. Kosiur voted for these things.  Maybe we can get the verbiage of these resolutions?  I don't know where to go and get them, but here's the list, in case you can't read in the picture.

  • Voted to increase property taxes by over $6.6 million.  (SOURCE: COUNTY RESOLUTION 146-04)
  • Voted to reinstate the tax on gasoline even though New Yorkers pay some of the highest gas taxes in the nation (SOURCE: COUNTY RESOLUTION 183-06)
  • Voted to increase cell phone taxes.  (SOURCE: COUNTY RESOLUTON 221-06)
  • Voted to increase taxes on home mortgages. (SOURCE: COUNTY RESOLUTION 036-05)
  • Voted four times to impose an additional sales tax. (SOURCE: CUNTY RESOLUTION 055-05, 081-05, 157-05, 076-07)

Now that we've taken care of those sex offenders lets go after the drug addicts, the drunk drivers, and anyone else that we feel we don't want living near us. This law should set off alarms at every level and it looks like we're heading toward becoming a police state. We love this country because of all the freedoms we have and every time I pick up the paper or turn on the news someone is trying to take away another one of those freedoms.

The Scotia 'sex offender' thing got this political ball rolling. The Schenectady democratic machine just picked up the ball and Kosiur ran with it. If it was drunk drivers or drug addicts that all hub bub was about...Kosiur would have run with that ball. If you notice, he clearly didn't run with the problems in the police dept's, PBA's, corruptness and the question of arbitration platform!! Now THAT needs some major law changes. But gee, Mr. Kosiur certainly couldn't touch that one with a ten foot pole since all of the unions have him in their back pocket!

If he had the, you know whats, to address the cop/pba issue, perhaps the sex offender issue wouldn't be one! Sex offenders is a lawenforcement issue, clearly NOT a residency issue! THAT IS A NO BRAINER!

You people are freaking crazy!!!  MBKB1 a "hack" because he doesn't agree with caringparent, senders, and bumble???  You people are crazy, hey Im all for Amedore, he gets my vote, I like him. Just because others want to vote for Kosier, doesn't make them wrong or evil, respect others freedom to vote how they want and their opinion.  The real "hack" here is the administrator, for allowing this little haven of small minded "candyland-rotterdam" mindset stroking each other.  And any real debate gets met with attacks from a "caringparent" or a self-pleasuring politician pretending to be a "concerned town resident", or nurse etc. Bumble you dumb bastard, you defended that boob Mertz and his hitler approach to a police commission, and senders, and the rest of them defended the "current majority"  You think the county or state republicans think that Mertz or other ignorant town board republicans are good for our communities, and just because they have an (R) next to their name they are going to blindly support them? I support Amedore 100%, what is hurting the republican party in this town, and county is the ignorant allegiance that senders, bumble, patz, and the admin, have for anything elephant, and the metion of anything donkey gets hit with personal attacks and nonproductive ramblings about how bad one party is compared to the other.  Intelligent debate would be nice. All of what has been posted about Kosier raising taxes etc. is true! but on the other hand look at Amedore, Im voting for him and I still don't believe his promises.  Amedore promises to lower taxes, on gas, cell phones, and help underprivledged children in other countries...please that is bull sh*t.  But I do think he will do a great job with other items, and I like him, threfore I vote for him.  IF the blind posters of this site can't look at anything on an individual basis as  opposed to (R) = good, (D) = bad.. then shame on you
