One man's opinion? Hmmmmmmmm! The Great Betrayal of Middle America
Quoted Text
Yet barely six months after his election, Trump is emerging as the latest politician to betray middle America.
Some of this is his awful management and communications style, which may well leave the country frozen until it is returned to the care of the coastal hegemons, tech oligarchs, high-level bureaucrats, academics, and media elitists whose views of the Heartland range from indifferent to hostile. The rise of China may have been a convenient source of cheap labor and more recently investment capital and lots of full load tuitions for universities, but according to the left-leaning Economic Policy Institute, our deficit cost the country 3.4 million jobs, most in manufacturing.
Trump’s trade rhetoric, like that of Bernie Sanders, excited the people and communities affected by these policies, but it remains questionable whether his own voters will benefit from his regime. Certainly the president’s tax proposals have been tailored to appeal to his billionaire friends more than the middle class. His health care reforms failed to prioritize those who feel threatened by loss of coverage, however much they gripe about the inanities of Obamacare.
I think the next election will change things for the better. Joe Biden is a regular guy. Hopefully he will run and do what's good for regular Americans.
Trump Foundation funneled $100K in donations into revenue for Trump Organization: report President Trump's charity foundation funneled $100,000 in donations meant for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital into revenue for the Trump Organization by using his son's charity, Forbes reported Tuesday.
For 10 years Eric Trump hosted an annual golf tournament which raised millions of dollars in donations for the hospital. According to the Forbes report, $100,000 of the donations was funneled through the Eric Trump Foundation back into Trump's golf courses for expenses incurred during the tournaments, despite donors being told that all their money would be used for charity.
In addition, more than $500,000 of donors' money over 10 years was re-donated to other charities, including some that were connected to Trump family members. At least four of those organizations also used Trump golf courses for charity tournaments.
According to the report, President Trump himself gave the order for the Trump Organization to begin billing the Eric Trump Foundation for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
If the report is true, the practices would violate both New York state law and federal law on self-dealing and misleading donors. To date, Eric Trump has raised more than $11 million for St. Jude's hospital.
In December, President Trump announced plans to dissolve his charitable foundation in order to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest. But New York's attorney general said that was impossible until a criminal probe of the charity was completed.
"The Trump Foundation is still under investigation by this office and cannot legally dissolve until that investigation is complete," Amy Spitalnick, a spokeswoman for Schneiderman, said in a statement to The Hill in December. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/.....;ocid=LENOVOSIGDHP17

Dozens of Democrats in the House and Senate are planning to file a lawsuit against President Trump charging that his vast business empire has created conflicts of interest that violate the emoluments clause of the Constitution, Politico reported Wednesday.
"We'll be suing to stop his violations of the emoluments clause," Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) told the outlet.
Democrats won't file their lawsuit until next week at the earliest, Politico said, but dozens of members from both the House and Senate have already agreed to sign on.
Nadler, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, said 78 House Democrats and 25 Senate Democrats have already signed-on to the suit.
"I'm proud of my Judiciary members for bringing it up," Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), another House Judiciary Committee member, told Politico. "It's about time."
Senate Democrats, led by Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) have been discussing the proposed lawsuit since April.
"Senator Blumenthal is focused on how to make sure that the Trump administration is held accountable for its unprecedented conflicts of interest, and ensure that no one - not even the president - is above the law," Blumenthal's spokeswoman said in April.
The emoluments clause of the Constitution states that "no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state."
Earlier this year, government watchdog CREW sued President Trump for allegedly violating the emoluments clause, citing "gratuitous Chinese trademarks" among Trump's alleged violations.
Trump turned over day-to-day business operations at the Trump Organization to his adult sons after he took office, but critics say he did not go far enough to avoid conflicts of interest.
A recent NBC News report found that the Trump Organization has not been tracking all possible payments it receives from foreign governments, despite President Trump's promise to donate all profits earned from foreign governments to the U.S. Treasury in an effort to avoid conflicts of interest. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/.....ar-BBCfIMW?ocid=iehp

TICK -TOCK Started with the accusation of collusion with Russia, then to obstruction of justice, now moving on to charities and the emoluments clause. Certainly doesn't appear to be a witch hunt.
