President Barack Obama will not attend Justice Antonin Scalia's funeral Saturday, the White House confirmed. Instead, the president will pay his respects on Friday, when Scalia's body lies in repose in the Great Hall of the Supreme Court building. Vice President Joe Biden will attend Scalia's funeral at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the White House said Wednesday during a press briefing. When pressed for clarification on Obama missing the funeral, White House press secretary Josh Earnest repeated that "the president will pay his respects at the Supreme Court on Friday and he'll be joined with the first lady when he does that." When asked whether Obama's Saturday plans include golfing, Earnest stressed instead that the president believes it is important to honor Scalia's life and service. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us.....ia-s-funeral-n520236 |

Another example of unforgivable disrespect by Obama. One time too many. He proves how clueless he really is...a tremendous disappointment. |

According to Harry's link:
Quoted Text
Four out of the past seven funerals for a Supreme Court justice have either had the president or vice president in attendance.
PRESIDENT Obama will attend the wake and VICE PRESENT Biden will attend the funeral for Scalia. |

Nope...that was question asked by press and left open ended. Since then it has been confirmed he has nothing on the agenda for that day. It's also been stated that this is first time President has not attended funeral for a sitting SCOTUS justice. WH Spokesperson said reason given is that VP going provides a smaller security footprint...very weak excuse. |

While it used to be a fairly common event, over the past half-century justices have rarely died while still in office. The last one to do so was Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, who died in 2005 at the age of 81. Before him, the last time a justice died in office was Robert H. Jackson in 1954, during the presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower. This is only an issue because this is an election year. Just like Benghazi... Just like Hillary's email... Just like "repeal and replace Obamacare"... The GOP is so far behind, they are grasping at straws to keep from losing both the Presidency and the Senate. |

Has nothing to do with election year, has to do with what is right thing to do! But, since you mentioned it...I bet if Obama was up for reelection he would damn sure be at the funeral and make a big splash about it too! He's wrong for not attending, and that's the bottom line! |
