So what?  You're not a city taxpayer, it has no effect on you ... unless of course you're trying to sell property IN the city.

Excuse me but do you realize when McTHIEF and metroplex give out these 100% tax exemptions to all these super rich downtown, that it DOES affect my taxes?  Guess you don't.  I am a taxpayer in the county.  These exemptions apply to COUNTY TAXES as well!

Just like the 100% tax exemption off that $132 MILLION dollar assessment of GE.  Thank you mcTHIEF and plex for making county taxpayers pay the county taxes on GE.  Oh yeah, and don't forget that that the taxes on that $132 MILLION assessment must be paid by about 13,000 taxable properties in town taxes.  And how about school taxes are divided up between fewer taxable properties, i.e., those in Schalmont school district.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

McCarthy has NO authority to grant tax exemptions ... that's done through the county (ie. Metroplex) or through IRS procedures for 501(c)3 corporations (ie. Proctor's).  The city mayor simply doesn't have the authority you blame him for

He does have the authority to publicly speak out against the exemptions and point out the shifting tax burden off of businesses and onto the residential property owners.

The momentum created by 10 years of positive leadership and intergovernmental collaboration continues to move the City-County of Schenectady forward.  It looks like 2016 will be a big year for positive new development news in our community.
