Mine was a 70 Chevelle SS 396 tricked out, around 1972-75...Boss 302's was my favorite dessert... got engaged and she made me sell the beast!
nice... pretty new car for a "kid" I bought my '69 Coronet R/T (440 automatic) in 1978 for $400 because it had a blown tranny..after that was fixed I went through a few re-paints and one motor... I had a lot fun with that car. I sold it in the summer of 1987 to get for money for... a house.. I had just gotten married in the spring. I sold it then for $4300...today that car (as it was back then, not restored) probably would have netted me $20K |

This thread went way off target.....but let me add that growing up in Guilderland in the 70's Big Dom's on Western Ave. was the place to go right across from Carrols Hamburgers. |

It is a FACT that drive thru is NOT essential, it is merely a convenience for the lazy. Would you die if you actually had to get off your butt and walk into a fast food place?
Yo, McTroll...waiting for the data to backup your bogus claim!!!!
Love to see the facts to back this bogus claim, but seems like McTroll's having a hard time coming up with anything. HOW ABOUT IT McTROLL???? Just because MC1 says so, doesn't make it so...and THAT's A FACT....!!! |
| JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!! |

The funny thing is, when he posted under his other username, he was actually posting some really beneficial things here. He said he was leaving, then changed his name and came back - and everything went to hell as soon as he started trolling/stalking/harassing DVOR incessantly. |

Quick question -- What business was located at the corner of Nott Street and Maxon Road? It is now vacant but there was a business there 40-50 years ago.
Also - the photos of Carrol's brings back memories. There was a Carrol's on Nott Terrace about where the loomotive stands on display. Carrol's became Burger King -- Burger King IMHO was always better than McDonald's because it served onion rings.
Personally, my favorite place as a kid was the Red Barn up on State Street in Woodlawn. It offered a choice of hamburgers, fried chicken and fish back at a time when McDonald's only offered burgers. |

The previous 2 posters are thinking of Wetsons hamburgs. Also served a fish sandwich, fries. One was on Nott St. across from the Hess gas station and Bib N. Another was on Altamont Ave. where the current McD's sits. |

I remember Wetson's on Altamont Ave, Still -- the Red Barn on State Street in Woodlawn was the best -- with the hamburgers, chicken and fish. The line in their commercials was "When the hungries hit .... Hit the Red Barn." There mascots (costumed characters) were "Hamburger Hungry," "Fried Chicken Hungry" and "Big Fish Hungry." You can still make out the distinctive shape of the old Red Barn restaurant building on State. Street. |

You are lucky to still have those from so long ago. Somewhere I have a Lefty Lemon cup from Kool Aid -- not much else from way back then. Just found their old 1970's commercial on Youtube. They also had hot dogs (20 cents), onion rings (20 cents), shakes (20 cents), cheeseburgers and fish sandwiches were 20 cents -- french fries and hamburgers were 15 cents each. |

The proposed store will be larger than the typical new Dunkin Donuts stores. It is a great location for a shop for both drive-thru and walk-in/sit-down customers.
Oh -- and notice that progress is being made on the new development project just a couple of blocks east. While this is technically in Niskayuna, it is all good because it benefits folks in both the city and the town --and anything that improves one part of our county/community improves the whole county/community. |
