Yes. The "mgt." has done an excellent job of relocating the downtown undesirables from the YMCA and Liberty Park. Now where will they go? Coming to a neighborhood near you?
Money better spent to revitalize Central Park...but that doesn't meet the needs of Politicians wanting to have pleasing appearance for people coming in for the casino...sad! Forget about the residents and great heritage of Central Park. Just let it continue to deteriorate and become a waste of land.
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!
Personally, I think it is a good thing. It is all part of improving the Lower State Street and Erie Blvd Corridors. It may also serve as a catalyst to clean up the nearby Stockade area which lost whatever "sparkle" it might have had many, many years ago.

The casino and the rest of Mohawk Harbor will be a vast improvement for the entire city and for the surrounding neighborhoods --- including the Stockade.

the Stockade has lost it's sparkle because it's older than all the humans in Schenectady....that's what happens when age happens

Most of Schenectady's residential and commercial buildings are "older than all the humans" in the city. The Stockade really needs a "spruce up" just like the other neighborhoods. The Stockade has a lot of potential.

it costs too much, it smells and it's dirty.......the future is coming....the only other alternative would be to turn it into something like the farmers museum

You obviously have no respect, understanding or appreciation for the historic value and what it represents that deserves to be maintained and preserved.

I don't have to respect a bunch of old buildings.......historic can be maintained with facades and pictures and videos and those all true and important public school history books.....
preservation should only be used on human lives.

And would YOU care to state WHO is going to pay for the upkeep of all these little parks? WHO is going to pay for the shoveling, clearing sidewalks of ice etc at all these parks. Just like on Eastern Ave, you have NEVER stated WHO is going to pay for shoveling those sidewalks with all the news parks that YOU allude to being a necessity.
The city CANNOT even successfully check private properties and enforce the shoveling there (residential AND commercial), so please DV, as the city does NOT have the staff for code enforcement for getting private people to shovel, please tell us how they are going to take care of all these additional private properties that they turned into city properties.
Certainly YOU won't pay. That's why you cheer for the city creating all kinds of things that the taxpayers have to pay for because you do not have to pay the bill, not even for stuff in the town.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Watch for "mgt" to try and oust the Stockade Deli at State/Church. From what is known they have a undesirable customer base that may not fit into the "plan" for that corridor spruce up.
It has taken time but the great vision of folks at both the city and county level is really starting to pay off. The momentum of each new project creating more momentum for additional projects and developments. It really is a great tome to live, work and do business in the City-County of Schenectady.
