The reality is that some folks get more rights and privileges than others.   On one hand you have a State Legislator or a Wall Street banker who steal millions.  On the other hand you have some poor kid from "The Hill" who holds ups a convenience store and gets away with $1,001.

■A class C felony in New York is punishable by up to 15 years in prison
Grand Larceny in the Third Degree
■NY Penal Law § 155.35
■Class D felony

■Class E felony
■A class E felony in New York is punishable by up to 4 years in prison

Now how many Wall Street Bankers and Hedge Fund Managers went to prison for even a day over the "real estate bubble" when they stole billions of dollars from investors and home buyers?
How many politicians are sitting in jail for stealing billions from taxpayers to "recover" the money stolen by the bankers and fund managers?
But the poor kid from the "The Hill" is sitting in a cell doing the time.

In a kleptocracy, the kid living on "the hill" isn't a prominent member of the parties that are permitted to steal.  If the kid on the hill contributed a portion of his stolen money to the political parties, the judges, the lawyers, the DA's, and the police, he would have a better chance of getting away with it.  But I don't think a measly $1000 is enough to grease all the kleptocrats running the government.  That's why you have to steal MILLIONS of dollars to get away with it.

Public employees are protected.  Private employees should be, too.  I would say that the "large employer" who does what you are saying that they do - is un-American.  The right to due process is very explicitly in the U.S. Constitution.  EVERYONE should be able to enjoy the protection of ALL of the rights contained in our nation's Constitution.  Barry Goldwater was right on the mark when he talked about defending liberty and Constitutional rights in America.  So was Ronald Reagan.

due process has to do with guilt and loss of some government given 'right' if found guilty by the state religion.....employers have no inherent duty to it's
employees unless you are one of those people who support the marriage between corporations/government that we have created as the 'social conscience'....

'oh, the government has to do something about my situation, even if it means bedding down with said company through legislation and coercion.'

Noticed on the CBS 6 news Tuesday.   Guilderland High School teacher arrested and charged with stealing Christmas gift toys just before Christmas.   Of course he was SUSPENDED WITH PAY.   If convicted will he return the pay during this period?   Story on CBS 6 news website.
