If this meeting at the Rotterdam Senior Center can save the life of even one person, than I don't think it will be a waste of taxpayer dollars.

And how about taxpayer money for a mailing for cell phones?

Come on, DV, YOU where the one who said it that once elected they should sign an oath NEVER  to use taxpayer money for mailings!  In your comments from back then, WHEN did you EVER say "except when...."  ?   Now the big liar is changing his story, when you are caught in a lie, now you are trying to create exceptions.    What a fairy tale you told, just like the fairy tale you told claiming that county taxes were lower now than in the 1970's (to which you have NEVER NEVER NEVER responded to, naturally because you know for a FACT that you were CAUGHT IN A SUPER BIG LIE, and to this day, several years later you cannot find one teeny weeny shred of EVIDENCE about YOUR CLAIM that county taxes are lower than in the 1970's)

See, that is the point, applying logic and reality.  If Amedore sent out Government correspondence, what idiot would demand he do it
on his dime? What idiot politician would do that?  No one.

I interpret the DVOR statement as I am sure it was intended....that politicians should
not send out mailing that are not Government related on tax payer money, i.e. reelection materials, etc.

And how much does it cost to put a press release in the newspaper, on the TV news, on the radio news, and post all over that social media?   If there are people that don't read/watch/listen to the news, don't follow social media, 99% chance they would never go to training like this.

DV was NOT talking "re-election" material because campaign mailing are NOT allowed on taxpayer money anyway, and again, DV said that IF elected, that means once they are in office, they should sign an oath to NEVER use taxpayer money for mailings.

But WHY must THREE copies of the SAME thing be mailed to the SAME ONE FAMILY house where EACH of three copies is mailed to a person with the SAME LAST NAME as the other two?   AND at taxpayer expense?   Explain that.
3 registered voters, right?  Would be more expensive to program the system to eliminate 2 of them, then again, which 2 shouldn't receive the information and why!  NOPE, each registered voter gets it, like it or not.

It is pitifully simple and virtually no cost at all, to do a query to find duplicates and basically copy the file and eliminate the duplicate address then “replace all name with occupant” (my gosh, that "command" of "replace all...." goes back to the days before Windows was invented think DBase)   DUH.  And once the query is saved, it is a matter of just a little pressing of a button so to speak to run that same query the next time a mailing is needed.   So explain just how many millions of dollars must be used to “program the system?”   Why is it so pitifully easy for some (not all) political mailings to be addressed as “Mary and John Smith.”  Gee, the political party knows how to save money on election material.

I would bet that better than 75% of the people who get this mail toss it in the trash without reading it, so it's a good thing that so much taxpayer money is used for printing costs and postage, yes?
And how is Amedore, DV or anyone else to control that, huh?  Geez dude, are you for real?

I agree that Amedore or any politician cannot control that, but it is that very reason, that hard copy paper is most often tossed in the trash without being read that caused the legislature (WITH THE OVERWHELMING APPROVAL OF VOTERS) to totally eliminate the printing of hard copy bills.     So why since most of hard copy snail mail is tossed in the trash, what would voters say about legislators in office repeatedly spending money on the expense of design, printing (especially fancy glossy mailings), plus postage costs  even multiple times in a week and several copies to one house when it mostly will get tossed in the trash?   Normal people mostly pay bills online today to save money, most people we know get newspaper subscriptions online instead of getting hard copy paper, why shouldn’t the legislature do what it can to save money - that is, move into the 21st century methods of passing along information - use today's technology – send e-mail and post on these social media sites?

But again, WHY does tax money NEED to be spent on fancy glossy mailings plus postage for something that can be put in the newspaper AT NO COST WHATSOEVER to the taxpayers or a legislator?
Asked and answered already...try reading!  And let me just add, if it was in the paper and YOU missed it, you'd be bitchin they should have mailed it to you!

You are really funny.  YOU must have been among of those lowlifes in Hamilton Hill that couldn’t be bothered to listen to the news, read the paper, listen to the radio, read street signs, and then screamed when your car was towed during the snow emergency (the alternate side parking) declared back in the 90’s sometime and all the lowlifes claimed the police should have rang stopped at every house and rang their doorbells to personally tell them.
NO, I would NOT be bitchin if I missed it in the paper.  This will NOT be a ONCE ONLY IN A LIFETIME training session.  This could be training that takes off and becomes as routine as CPR, there will be oodles of other opportunities to take it.  And the cell phones for soldiers, they could have bins set up in every store around, with a sign, just like the collections for glasses, the collection of BoxTops for education, the Toys for Tots, and oodles of other collection purposes, and unless you are living under a rock or you are in a hospital or totally homebound, you WOULD SEE (assuming you are not blind in the medical/legal sense)  the collection boxes, absolutely no need for expensive glossy mailings and postage costs

I don't want to be accused of "feeding the troll" but it is rather interesting that on one hand McTroll spends so much time tearing me doen (as insignificant, etc.) and on the other hand attacking me for my positions as if my opinions/positions singlehandedly influence the decisions of mayors as well as municipal, county and state legislators.

As for the issue of taxpayer funded mailers, I certainly am opposed to legislators using them in the period right before the primary and general election.  I'd rather that they not be used at all.  In the case of the mailers regarding the public meeting on the heroin  problem, I think it falls into the category of trying to inform residents so that they can be informed on a matter of public concern. Considering the many examples of wasteful state spending that one could come up with, I think this expenditure to deal with a major crime and public health issue is justifiable.

In the end, it really doesn't matter.

We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.   Funny how that works.
