SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police are on scene of a stabbing in Schenectady.

Schenectady police confirm a male was stabbed multiple times at 2450 Van Vranken Ave.

The incident took place at Yates Village.

The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

SCHENECTADY — Schenectady police are responding to a stabbing in Yates Village.

The victim was stabbed multiple times in the torso, police Lt. Mark McCracken said. It happened in the housing complex’s A Court area around 3:45 p.m.

“The individual had not been pronounced,” he said.

Chief Brian Kilcullen said at the scene that one male victim was taken to Ellis Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Police have no one in custody at this time.

Taken to Ellis usually not a good sign.

Had my son at the Ellis ER yesterday, VERY outraged at what "treatment" they tried to give him without a diagnosis.

Make a formal complaint. They can not correct the current mess that ED is in until they realize just how badly they are failing the community. They seem to think that it is just a perception problem and are not seeing what the real issues are.

I had to go to the ER after I fell and hit my head last year.

It was before St. Clare's ER was closed.

I received PHENOMENAL service there.  Not blaming Ellis for the recent complaint or saying St. Clare's was better, I believe customer service has its lows and highs.

My point was that the doctor's and other caregivers within the Ellis ecosystem, from my experience, has been fantastic.

My daughter took her son a few days ago, he hit his head and was bleeding. She said they only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seen, thankfully no
stitches.  She only said that she wished St Clares ER was still open because driving to Nott took so much longer and then finding a parking space no fun when you have a bleeding child in the car.

I too miss the St. Clares ER. I think they really should have kept it open.

As for my son he saw his primary doctor yesterday and she said he was right to sign himself out of the ER as the treatment they were going to use
"made no sense"  

They didn't have a choice to keep it open. The closing was part of the Berger Commision. They stretched keeping it open as long as the state would allow.

There was something in the paper, Albany Med is not taking over the former St Clares, that I understand.  Rather it is building or renovating something on upper union to have an ambulatory facility, that was my understanding, or that is what they are planning.

The St Clare's building is owned by Ellis. They have the nursing home there, the sleep lab there, ambulatory surgery, infusion center, wound care...they also have a bunch of their ofdice type workers there-finance, HR...There school of nursing is over on that campus as well as a bunch of the Ellis primary care doctors. Albany med is not taking over that area. They want to get up on Upper Union St but the paper says they haven't even applied yet. Not sure how that is going to work out, they may not be able to bring all the services they want.

The victim died and the police arrested another resident. Yates Village needs to be privatized or closed. Many remember the poor pizza deliveryman who was murdered.
There is also a sick Youtube video of residents being beaten up by gang members for simply walking there. At what point is someone going to say the SMHA is a total failure,
a DEM cesspool and needs to be ended? Yates Village succeeded in destroying a solid REP neighborhood and creating a new slum on Northside. That's what it was created for.

I did it again.  I hear/read the name Yates Village and I think of the one on Watt St.  With Steinmetz park over on the northside I keep thinking that the MHA over there is Steinmetz Homes.  Oh who named them like that, like the park and the homes should have been the same LOL.

Benny you have a point.  Private owners might be more apt to be tougher with the residents, but then lib judges don't always go along with eviction.  MHA just keeps people there, even perps, doesn't care about damage because they can just bleed the taxpayers for repairs.  

Does the MHA screen tenants?  To what extent?  Do they get tough and evict law breaking tenants?  

Bet their cronies are the ones that get contracts to do renovations and such.  Wasn't there a renovation, interior, of one or more of the MHA places not all that long ago, like five years, or has time escaped me.  As in where does the MHA get appliances from?

Again, more questions that need answers.  More answers that the city should provide.  Taxpayers should not have to go oogling and googling over tons of websites for an answer.
