I understand, but I hope they are giving priority to working on solving that sexual assault and hopefully patrolling the neighborhoods. After the crimes against people and their property, then they can deal with parking in my opinion, despite that it's illegal. Naturally you are aware of an awful lot of crime in town lately |

Is this a sign of work slow down by the Rotterdam PD for not allowing the hiring of new offices as requested????? During the budget meetings it was stated that more officers are needed to keep the line between Schenectady and Rotterdam patrolled so that the crime didn't spill over......."We'll show them that we need more officers" |

the tractor trailer issue is an easy, quick fix.........just slap tickets on their windshields.
if the ROTTENdam cops are so busy.....can't the sheriff's do it?
they are right up the road at the trooper's bldg.
THERE ARE SIGNS THERE THAT SAY 'NO PARKING'!!!
...........so if they can break the law.....so can others....in other ways. |

so that means that I can go and park my car in a 'no parking' area without getting a ticket as long as my car is running? |

Well its illegal for the diesel trucks to idle more than 5 minutes as well.
Quoted Text
New York State Environmental Conservation Law (ECL) prohibits heavy duty vehicles, including diesel trucks and buses, from idling for more than five minutes at a time. Exceptions are when your vehicle is:
Stuck in traffic Idling for maintenance purposes Powering an auxiliary function or apparatus, such as a concrete tumbler Involved in an emergency situation A diesel fueled truck operating in an ambient air temperature below 25°F for more than 2 hours
Less idling time is good for the environment because it reduces air pollution, noise and fuel use. It also saves money for diesel operators and consumers and contributes to a cleaner atmosphere.
The diesel idling regulation is found in Title 6 NYCRR, Subpart 217-3 and will be enforced by DEC Conservation Officers.
Powering an auxiliary function or apparatus, such as a concrete tumbler ... could also include the reefer function on most of those parked (reefer indicates refrigerated storage). Will be enforced by DEC Conservation Officers ... not Rotterdam Police, State Police or Schenectady Sheriff. Source: http://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/8585.html |

Reefer units have their own diesel engine/fuel tanks on board the trailer. And I'm not saying Rotterdam police needs to be out there ticketing them for it, I'm saying it isn't likely they are sitting there with the trucks idling.

Tractor -trailers 18 wheelers can be very annoying on the road or off. You can get tired all of a sudden and sometimes its not so easy pulling off and and take a quick nap so rig drivers do this and troopers know why. Waaaay back in the day I drove a rig for a few years as an independant rig leased to a company out of Joplin Mo. I hauled over sized over weight Including class A explosives. I carried decomissioned missles from coast to coast- took them to hawthorn Nevada where they would burn them off. I went on many ' bomb runs " from depots hidden in the smokey mountains near Milan Tn to a navy base in South Carolina. OTR over the road drivers are expected to drive at least 500 miles a day If your carrying explosives you need to pay someone to watch the rig while your in there sleeping- |
