This Mayoral election will boil down to whom you wish to manage the existing status quo. An election for an admistrator if you will. If Mr. Hull were to be elected he would most likely just continue on the current path of working with Plex, casino, neighborhoods, unions, etc. Not much would change in a major way. No major reversal of current form. Sure, there will be tweaks here and there like who he would appoint for various positions and the like. But he would most likely still have to deal with a dem. council. And if they were "advised" by county level interests to veto any Hull initiatives that did not fit their agenda, they surely would block his agenda. Just don't look for that many revolutionary changes if he does get elected. As much as some would like to see them. There currently is too much at stake money wise to overturn completly the status quo. Many are profiting quite well in the current enviroment, it just boils down to who is going to benefit most from the "booty".
A friend of mine whom lives in Mt Pleasant said his kid's tuition was over $80,000.
Your friend probably isn't the one actually paying the tuition
45- 50 grand is probably average for man private universities-
Get residence is a state like California -go to a State University tuition is about 40 grand TOTAL FOR 4 YEARS ( 5 k per semester )

Unlike Mayor McCheese who has raised taxes 24 straight times and will raise them 4 more times if reelected-Roger Hull is a brilliant administrator with a record of accomplishment. Anyone who likes the highest taxes in the area, worst roads, exploding crime/gangs and a puppet Mayor should certainly stay home on Election Day. Roger Hull won as a write in candidate taking the important Conservative line from the do nothing (but tax) Mayor. This is a very positive development that shocked City Hall hacks. It shows that the SPD has finally woken up and other public employees will follow. Everyone is tired about the constant lies about progress. Taxes are up, resale values are way down and the machine hacks continue to make false promises and lie about the City finances which are a shambles. Despite the false issues {like tuition that is up nationwide} the fact remains that resale values on City property are down 20% because of the DEM confiscatory taxation and moronic administrators. Had enough-YET?

Hull would probably be in the position that Vince Riggi is. I've heard it said that "what has Riggi accomplished?" Well, he represents the taxpayers, unlike the dems on the council. Vince votes to oppose the taxpayers paying the loan for a demolition of a building owned by a billionaire who can well afford to pay for the demo himself. Vince tried. But the dems on the council vote to force the low income homeowners in the city to pay for it! I thought that the democrat party was the party that was "for the working people," but in Schenectady CLEARLY, CLEARLY it is the party for the billionaires.
If Hull wins as mayor, he might have a dem council who will still give out the tax breaks to the rich downtown. Hull could veto something and the dems will be paid off by Galesi to override any veto.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Is that what Hull said he would do? Or is that what you hope he will do?
Huge early turnout in districts Roger Hull carried four years ago. Get out and vote for the entire Reform Slate ROW H-HULL for new Mayor and the 4 reform/alliance City Council Candidates Vince Riggi (who will finish first), Tom Verret, Ann Rigley and Mike Cuevas. This will not be close except for the fourth City council seat. The DEMS have run a laughable campaign with no plan, no vision just more taxes and lies about phony job creation. Hull hit a grand slam in the final debate when he questioned the Mayor about jobs- NO ANSWER! It's great to see a unified opposition while the DEMS fight for votes between themselves. Without Denise Brucker they have no vote getter on the ballot.
As insane as it is that the city will probably elect someone who claims (lies) about creating 7000 jobs (seriously)... And who claims the roads are so bad because of the horrible winter - that required NO snow emergencies... And the decreasing housing sales AND prices...
I see far more McCarthy signs up than Hull.
Of course I did vote for the only sane choice - and it's not the double dipper tax raiser.
McCarthy won because people in the city are ignorant.
They see the pretty buildings downtown, but do not realize that they are paying almost the highest taxes in the state BECAUSE of the pretty buildings.
They see the pretty buildings downtown, but are totally clueless that the vales of their homes has fallen MASSIVELY because of the pretty buildings.
Those who are tenants know that they pay their rent, but they think that when the landlord raises their rent that the landlord is greedy because tenants generally do not make the connection between their rent and the tax bill and most definitely they have no understanding whatsoever of the value of the house that they live in, so they see pretty new buildings have no clue that their money is subsidizing it.
No one really makes the connection that Galesi is a billionaire company, that it's local CEO wants NOTHING to do with living IN the city OR the county. No one really makes the connection that the Hilton family are ultra rich and don't pay full taxes, they don't understand that Marcella and Mallozzi don't pay full taxes and they don't live in the city. No one understands that they are paying for the demo of that DSS building rather than the billionaire Galesi.

LOL! Really? Ignorant?
No MC, they aren't ignorant. You are the one who is ignorant because you just don't get it.
Tenants don't give a crap about rent, most of them anyway. Why should they? It's mostly subsidized now. Why should they give a sh*t about how much rent is or how much taxes are or why mr landlord raises da rent?
Galesi ? Ask any Schenectady pubbie who this person is, let alone the organization. No fu^kin clue, nor do they care, since it doesn't directly affect them.
Anybody who gave a sh^t is GONE!
Like everyone else that saw what was coming, we sold our homes that we bought for $100k back in 2001 for $30k in 2012 and we GOT THE F^CK OUT!

I think it is the height of arrogance to say either a) the voters of Schenectady are ignorant (just because they didn't vote the way you wanted them to vote) or) that the voters of the city just don't care. Many folks DO care. They are working to help make the city better. And pretty decent majority of them voted for Mayor McCarthy -- and his City Council team -- and for his team on the County Legislature -- because they DO care and they DO believe that the city and the county is moving in the righ .. positive .. direction. The vote totals very strongly repudiate the dark, negative view of the constant complainers and nayboobs. Most Schenectadians are POSITIVE and FORWARD thinking ..and have given a resounding Bronx's cheer to the naysayers and nayboobs.

And, it's not arrogant and childish to refer to anyone who criticizes the Democrats as "nayboobs and constant complainers" - no logical or ethical reason for voting in the other direction?

Apparently, you don't know the definition of the word "nayboob." It about someone who constantly complains and criticizes about everything. Certain folks who post here have NEVER had ANYTHING positive to say about Schenectady, Rotterdam or practically anything else. It has NOTHING to do about being for or against one political party or the other. As for criticizing Democrats -- go roght ahead .. I certainly have criticized Democrats. On the other hand, I have supported quite a few Republicans.
