ROTTERDAM — Three women in a sport utility vehicle were arrested Thursday on a variety of theft charges and arrest warrants.
Rotterdam officers were called to the Citi Trends clothing store at 1400 Altamont Ave. around 12:40 p.m. for a report of two female shoplifters fleeing the store in a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, police said.
Officers immediately recognized the Oldsmobile and its license plate as one previously operated by Michael A. Lamalfa, 27, of Ontario Street, Schenectady, and Tasha M. Savage, 32, of Ferndale Avenue, Schenectady.
Lamalfa was charged Wednesday with possessing several iPods stolen from vehicles in Rotterdam and Niskayuna, police said. Savage was wanted on an arrest warrant charging her with third-degree possession of stolen property, a felony, and seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
The charges against her stem from Sept. 3, when Lamalfa and Savage were found in the Oldsmobile with more than $3,000 worth of property stolen from vehicles Aug. 31, police said.
After getting the shoplifting complaint and recognizing the Oldsmobile and its place, police went to 2757 Broadway in Rotterdam, the address of the vehicle’s registered owners, in search of the vehicle. A short time later, the Oldsmobile pulled into the driveway with three women inside, police said.
Officers checked the vehicle and found the property reported stolen from Citi Trends, police said.
Police arrested Victoria L. Sheldon, 27, of 2757 Broadway in Rotterdam, on charges of petty larceny and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors. She was arraigned and sent to Schenectady County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
Savage was hit with the same charges in connection with the City Trends shoplifting incident, police said. She also was arraigned on the Sept. 4 felony and misdemeanor charges, and sent to Schenectady County Jail with no bail set.
The third woman in the vehicle, who was not present during the alleged City Trends shoplifting, Seba J. Richards, 41, of 1532 Becker St. Apt. 302, Schenectady, was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor. She is accused of giving officers a false name in an attempt to conceal an active felony arrest warrant, police said. She was released on an appearance ticket but taken to Schenectady County Jail anyway, due to the warrant, police said.

Michael Lamalfa SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say a man from the city was arrested after he stole electronics from cars, but claimed he was sleep-walking.
According to authorities, at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday a vehicle was parked illegally, blocking a driveway on First Avenue.
Upon investigation the vehicle was known to be driven by 28-year-old Michael Lamalfa of Schenectady. Recently, Lamalfa was suspected stealing from several vehicles in the town. Officers then checked the area extensively for him, but were unable to locate him. The vehicle was then ticketed and towed for blocking the driveway. An inventory of a backpack in the vehicle revealed several iPods and cellphones.
Later on that day, officers got a call for a male subject having difficulty standing and walking on Rensselaer Avenue at Deforest St. around 6:30 a.m. When police arrived they determined that this individual was Lamalfa and he appeared disoriented and unsteady on his feet.
Lamalfa provided no explanation as to why he was in this neighborhood and stated that he must have been sleepwalking and had no recollection of the past several hours.
He was found to be in possession of a large amount of loose change and 3 iPods. He was then turned over to Glenville Police on unrelated charges while Rotterdam Detectives worked to locate the owners of the property.
Since his release to Glenville Police, two separate victims have identified property possessed by Lamalfa as stolen and he is expected to be charged with these at his next court appearance. Anyone who had property stolen from their vehicle overnight is asked to contact Rotterdam Detectives at 355-7397.
Additionally, Lamalfa faces charges lodged against him by Rotterdam Detectives on September 4 of this year for Possession of Stolen Property. In that case, Lamalfa was found to be in possession of a laptop, golf clubs, golf bag and golf cart valued at over $3,000.
