Would be nice if the town would do reverse 911 calls, and post something on their website and notify the news media. After all how difficult is it for a town employee to assess the situation and make a call to some IT person employed by the town who can then go to his/her computer and access the town's computer and post a message on the website, really, is that so hard? And how difficult to make phone calls to 4 TV channels? Heck, the private telemarketers can make robo calls, and even more, private trash (County Waste) can make robo calls to say that due to weather pickups will be delayed a day.
Sure, things happen, we can live with breaks, but we need to learn of them first. And for the taxes we pay, the town should be able to notify us. |

It's been fixed near Adk tire for hours. |

I had no water for about 1 hour around 4pm.
Absolutely nothing at all came out of any faucets.
Of course my wife blamed me, because I replumbed the entire house in the spring and replaced everything with 3/4" Pex tubing from the street to every place in the house and even through the entire yard.

Kudos to Rotterdam on water main break
Every once in a while it is time to complement our local governmental departments.
I recently had a water main break on my property. I had never met town of Rotterdam Highway Superintendent Larry LaMora prior to this incident. I spent a few days with Larry and his crew while they fixed the water main break at my home. I was very impressed with the way Mr. LaMora discuss their course of action.
Prior to shutting off the water to all the area residents, Larry instructed his crew to one-by-one advise the area residents that their water was to be turned off. What was most impressive was the concern Larry had for the community knowing the hardship the lack of water would cause. He even instructed water to be brought to farm down the road for their horses.
I want to personally thank Larry LaMora and his crew for their professionalism in handling the situation.
