SCHENECTADY — A man was shot and killed on Albany Street in Hamilton Hill late Monday night, police said.

The shooting happened at about 11:12 p.m. near Zaid's Food Market, at 807 Albany St., police said.

The preliminary investigation indicated the man was shot at least once in the chest. He was treated at the scene and taken to Ellis Hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.

City police detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police TIPS line at 788-6566.

The fatal shooting is the third homicide in Schenectady this year and the second in two weeks.

Marquise Solomon, 40, of Schenectady, was shot late June 18 on Swan Street between Albany and State Street. He died of his wounds four days later. No arrests have been made in his killing.

Lol!

Zaid's is well known for it's curbside drug sales.

They consider themselves to be free lance pharmacists.

The same area where the free lance escort service/entertainment workers practice.

At least the dealers stay out of the road.

City police detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police TIPS line at 788-6566.

The only way they will get tips is if they offer drugs to the callers.

The police are considered an occupying army in the drug war zone.

Collaborators(squealers, rats) are very few in the occupied territory.

It's safer for residents in the war zone to be friends with the dealers, than with the police.

I thought there was a camera located at that store due to the reoccurring criminal behavior there, no?

SCHENECTADY — The victim of last night's fatal shooting on Albany Street was identified this morning by his mother as a good kid who loved football.

Lasean K. Gause, 19, of Schenectady, was killed in the Monday night shooting, according to his mother Aisha Persha.

Persha said her son graduated from high school two years ago and had hopes of attending college.

"My son's a good kid," Persha said.

Gause was shot and killed shortly after 11 Monday night near the Zaid Food Market, 807 Albany Street. No arrests have been reported.

Police said Gause was shot at least once in the chest. He was treated at the scene and taken to Ellis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Persha said she was told by police that Gause was a bystander and wasn't involved in the incident that led to the shooting.

How could you even call in a tip today if you wanted to? Schenectady probably has about two pay phones left. I wouldn't use my cell phone to do that, if I lived in that area.
