Candidate jailed Schenectady mayoral hopeful Gibbs arrested By Haley Viccaro July 27, 2015
SCHENECTADY — Schenectady mayoral hopeful Chris Gibbs was arrested and jailed Sunday.
Gibbs, 27, was arrested at 8:57 a.m. and charged with two counts of intent to damage property, one count of second-degree unlawful imprisonment and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
The incident occurred at Gibbs’ home at 427 Franklin St., according to the arrest report. The Brooklyn native was arraigned later that morning and sent to the Schenectady County Jail, according to Sgt. Matt Dearing.
Court paperwork containing details of the allegations against Gibbs was not available on Sunday because the courts are closed over the weekend.
Gibbs has a 2-year-old daughter and has his own production company called Mad Men Productions, which promotes and manages parties. He also runs a nonprofit called the Chris Gibbs Foundation. He is pursuing a run for mayor as an independent candidate and has been collecting signatures to get on the ballot. He needs 543 signatures on a petition that he must file between Aug. 11 and 18.
Also running are incumbent Gary McCarthy, a Democrat, and former Union College President Roger Hull, the Alliance Party founder who ran against McCarthy in 2011 and lost by 89 votes.
Gibbs told The Daily Gazette last month that he had been arrested several times in the past for resisting arrest and marijuana possession.
His campaign is focused on working to bring jobs to the area and revitalizing the city’s neighborhoods. Gibbs said last month that he decided to run for mayor to recruit businesses to the area, increase job opportunities and create more youth programs.
"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix,"
Now McCarthy needs to be arrested too. For violating state law in refusing to assess properties in the city at a uniform percentage of value.

I wonder if there will be another evacuation at the high school this year. That is, a repeat of 4 years ago

At last some exciting new blood(s). I'm hoping everyone gets out and supports young Mr. Gibbs. Hopefully he'll introduce an equally exciting list of Council candidates to run along
Did you seriously think the DEM machine would let him split the vote? Waiting the exciting DEM Council candidates to run Lumpy and Bumpy.
