What do people do?

Flag Day falls within National Flag Week, a time when Americans reflect on the foundations of the nation’s freedom. The flag of the United States represents freedom and has been an enduring symbol of the country’s ideals since its early days. During both events, Americans also remember their loyalty to the nation, reaffirm their belief in liberty and justice, and observe the nation’s unity.

Many people in the United States honor this day by displaying the American flag at homes and public buildings. Other popular ways of observing this holiday include: flag-raising ceremonies; Flag Day services; school quizzes and essay competitions about the American flag; musical salutes; street parades; and awards for special recognition.

Organizations such as The National Flag Day Foundation are actively involved in coordinating activities centered on the event and keeping the flag’s traditions alive. Following Flag Day is Honor America Days, a 21-day period through to Independence Day (July 4) to honor America. During this period, people hold public gatherings and activities to celebrate and honor the nation.

have a Flag Day parade you two jerks would be whining about where the money was coming from, blame everyone but yourselves. So shut the f*** up, grow up and start acting like the intelligent adults you claim to be.

June 14 is National Bourbon Day --- now that is a good reason for a parade.

Every day seems to national something day --- June 11 was National German Chocolate cake Day and June was National Peanut Butter Cookie Day ... We could spend the whole year parading.

U.S. Flag Recalled After Causing 143 Million Deaths.

WASHINGTON—Citing a series of fatal malfunctions dating back to 1777, flag manufacturer Annin & Company announced Monday that it would be recalling all makes and models of its popular American flag from both foreign and domestic markets.

Representatives from the nation’s leading flag producer claimed that as many as 143 million deaths in the past two centuries can be attributed directly to the faulty U.S. models, which have been utilized extensively since the 18th century in sectors as diverse as government, the military, and public education.

"It has come to our attention that, due to the inherent risks and hazards it poses, the American flag is simply unfit for general use," said Annin & Company president Ronald Burman, who confirmed that the number of flag-related deaths had noticeably spiked since 2003. "I would like to strongly urge all U.S. citizens: If you have an American flag hanging in your home or place of business, please discontinue using it immediately."

Added Burman, "The last thing we would want is for more innocent men and women around the world to die because of our product."

Millions of U.S. flag–related injuries and fatalities have been reported over a 230-year period in locations as far flung as Europe, Cuba, Korea, Gettysburg, PA, the Philippines, and Iraq. In addition, the company found that U.S. flag exports to Vietnam during the late 1960s and early 1970s resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths, a clear sign that there was something seriously wrong with its product.

Despite fears about the flag's safety—especially when improperly used or manipulated in ways not originally intended—sales continued unabated over the years, potentially putting billions of unsuspecting people in danger.

Yes, you  can find some calendar that has "national" something day.  But it's not something that is observed like Flag Day.  Granted Flag Day is not a holiday as in government and banks closed, but it has been a long recognized day for celebrating with ceremonies and parades, and almost everyone is doing something, but NOT Schenectady.

Well ya better start winding it back up Bubba, because unless you forgot, it's also the US Army's birthday today. So hie yourself over to Walmart, pick up some fireworks and get back at it. You'll probably be up the rest of the night and it'll give you an excuse to call in sick tomorrow.

If MikeChristine took even 10% of the time and energy that they spend whining and moaning to organize a committee and plan a Memorial Day Parade or Flag Day Parade or some other entity to address one of the numerous issues that they whine and moan about -- than maybe they could actually make a constructive, positive contribution to the community.  They just prefer to be part of the problem rather than part of the solution.
