I don't use drugs. I have mono and I'm suffering from insomnia. Really. I have a virus that makes me tired all the time, and then when I do try to sleep I can't. Sleep deprivation, that's what it is. So tired I can't do anything other than type ridiculous rants here, on Facebook and any where else my current state leads me. Additionally my LFT's have been through the roof. Anytime I eat I'm in fear that the unbearable pain that sent me to the ER 2 weeks ago will return. They've taken so much blood from me in the last week and a half I'm fully convinced I'm anemic. I truly believe I'm going mad, and realized that I can't spell the word truly, because everytime I do a little red line appears under the word telling me I misspelled it. Uh what was your question?

Hey, not all are bad. Too bad there is so much crime in the city that the all the cops can't do that on every shift, every day, but that would put the city at risk.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
Good point. Here's another hypothetical. Say the opt outer decides to arm himself to protect his property, and a perp invades his space and in the process , the perp is killed. Now if both the perp and the opt outer have opted out of public safety, no problem. It's a win win for all involved. One less criminal opt outer is justified in opting out and the city isn't involved on any level.
However should the perp have opted for public safety, then the slope gets slippery. He's entitled to justice, because he's an opt inner. The opt outer on the other hand is up sh*t creek without a paddle. He gets prosecuted, has to pay for his own lawyer, and if convicted to be fair he or his family should have to pay for his own incarceration, or execution, should that be an option.
I say opting out of public safety is a viable alternative to paying those pesky taxes. Can I get a HELL YEAH!!!!!
That's not public safety you described, it's criminal justice. The perp violated the natural rights of the victim. You are talking about the penalty after the fact. Unless your idea of public safety is having police act as a personal body guard and could have prevented the hypothetical crime. So whether you opt out or in, the crime would have still been committed. I'm not sure investigating a crime scene and prosecution should be defined as public safety.

Officer Rizzo represents what is good about our community (the City-County of Schenectady) and law enforcement officers. In a day and age when bad news gets headlines, it is great to see the WHOLE picture and that is that the overwhelming majority of law enforcement officers are good, decent, community-minded people .. and that our community is a better place to live because of their presence in it.

It's tiresome and childish because all of your discussions regarding the police lead to this conclusion. When police officers disgrace their badge with the behaviors you cited, and which they were held accountable, then react that way. When the behaviors are positive, it would seem the reaction should follow suit. But, it doesn't - you're a one trick pony. It's tiresome and childish, but apparently it's all you have to offer.

It is pretty sad that so many people judge the entire department...
And some of those same people talk about how horrible the condition of the city is... The criminal vermin that now "infest" our city...
And our officers have to persevere through all that. Try listening to a scanner and seeing the crap and danger they have to put up with.
Do you think they got interested in policing for the great pension? I doubt it.
I'm a huge advocate of the police as a whole.
The individuals that break the law - or the PBA that protects silly benefits like taking vehicles home or whatever other garbage that got into the contract... THEY are about as bad as that other vermin in our city.
Oh - and I do NOT work for the police, or the public sector in any way... Nor do I have any relatives or friends in the department.
