Have Memorial Day parades. For all the taxes Schenectady has, you'd think. Oh, wait, the taxpayers money is going to Galesi.

Probably canceled over concerns of liability and lawsuits...imagine bands and marchers along the route being injured from falling into potholes!
Cute, but you would think it would be in downtown. Are there any potholes in downtown? You know McTHIEF steals from the homeowners and their neighborhoods to make downtown look like some lavish royal estate.

If they had had a parade there would be a post here complaining about it. So what's your point?

you took the words right out of my mouth! they would have bit@hed about that too.

The FACT is that the City of Schenectady did officially recognize Memorial Day and the sacrifice of our fallen men and women in the military. The City of Schenectady had a Memorial Day service in Veterans Park. There was also a service up in the Bellevue neighborhood in the little park in front of Bond's Funeral Home. Other neighborhoods may have marked the occasion as well.

Hey coward, the FACT is I was NOT saying that the city of Schenectady had no service whatsoever. And I DEFY you to provide any EVIDENCE that I claimed that Schenectady did not officially recognize Memorial Day.
The FACT is I was merely commenting on the FACT that most other communities around here had parades and Schenectady did not. Just like virtually EVERY other community around -- WHICH ALL HAVE LOWER TAXES -- routinely declare snow emergencies to facilitate proper snowplowing, but Schenectady does not.

Once again if Schenectady had had a parade, you two whining turds would be bitching about that, so what's your point? Frankly I think the both of you need a good bitchslap and to stfu.

Most communities have some type of service or event to recognize Memorial Day. Most do NOT have a parade. (There are 78 municipalities in the 4 counties that make up the Capital District. At most, 10 or 15 of them have a parade.)
Someone would have to do some research - on whether the City of Schenectady had a formal Memorial Day parade in the past. I do know that the city had more parades way, way back (1940's and 1950's) and that a number of them were on Erie Boulevard. Back in the day when I was a Cub Scout, I do remember our troop participating in a small parade (basically from the assembly point ... maybe a block away ... to the Park itself) for Memorial Day at Veterans Park.
The Memorial Day service in Veterans Park is simple, dignified and wholly appropriate. I am not certain that a huge parade would be as good as let alone a better tribute to our fallen military men and women.

Interesting that some people know that others WOULD HAVE complained about a parade that doesn't exist. I think we spoke of this last year. It has bothered me that for certain things that other communities recognize and celebrate or commemorate, it has always been assumed that Schenectadians would just go to Albany, as if we weren't a "real" city. One thing we did have that other places didn't though, was the Christmas parade. Schenectady's big celebration, the Tuesday in the Park, is, of course, no more. Can't have the people who live here enjoying the place they live in, publicly, as a group.
The FACT is that the City of Schenectady DOES RECOGNIZE AND COMMEMORATE Memorial Day. To say that it doesn't .. as 2 nayboobs have .. is an outright lie. Once again, you are entitled to your own opinion but NOT to your own facts.

Schenectady had a Veteran's Day parade
Cub scout? How come you were not an Eagle Scout? Ah, won't answer that one.
And for your information, why is a parade not good? Other places have them and I guess you are saying it's insulting?
By the way, Rotterdam has a parade AND a service. Schenectady CAN have a service AND a parade. But remember, your beloved McTHIEF is more interested in spending the taxpayers' money on his rich cronies.
