MOHONASEN SCHOOL DISTRICT RESIDENTS PLEASE READ AND SHARE!!! So I read an interesting article today From Rotterdam resident Margaret Bielicki advocating for Dan... Garrow as for the next BOE seat... I am having a hard time understanding some thing's.
As some of you may know Dan Garrow ran for a Vacant seat on the Schenectady School Board in 2012 where his bio, according to Schenectady School District Budget Newsletter issued in 2012, states he resided at 450 12th St in Bellevue. If my math is correct 2012 was a mere 3 years ago. However, according to his 2015 bio on the Mohonasen District School web site, http://www.mohonasen.org/budget/2015-2016-proposed-budget/2015-board-of-education-candidates/ Garrows address is listed as 3078 Guilderland Ave and has lived "in district for 7 years" .... I'm curious as to how one lives in the district for 7 years, but 3 years ago resided in the city district ... Hmmmm
Another interesting factoid ... 3078 Guilderland Ave is what most of us remember as the former Rotterdam branch of Sunmark FCU... In a recent drive by I noticed it's not only vacant but under construction to be utilized as what appears to be an office (given the few desks inside). The building permit located in the window doesn't have Garrow's name on it at all... Owner or applicant. So .... Is this his actual residence, or simply an address in which to qualify to run for the school board???
So, Mrs. Bielicki, I ask you. Do you support someone who's story is not consistent with the facts, and appears to be misrepresenting himself as a Long time Rotterdam Resident? Also, In other articles it states he attended Schenectady Schools for 9th, 10th and 11th grade, when he dropped out, however again with his Bio on the Mohon web site it states he attended Monhon in his sophomore year (10th grade) .... Just more inconsistency I suppose. It's also intriguing as to his claims of working for the Sheriffs Department in his 2012 campaign, but 3 years later is employed by Schenectady County Dept of senior and long term living. Why the resignation from a great paying well respected job as a Corrections Officer??
Garrow is not a tax paying member of Mohonasen School District and with the inconsistency in Mr. Garrow's "life story" I wouldn't want him on the school board that over sees my children.... And you shouldn't either!!!
Schenectady City Residents realized he wasn't right for there school and WE need to realize it too!!! DO NOT VOTE FOR DAN GARROW ON MAY 19th!!!
Good find! And from what I hear.....he has the largest campaign sign. In fact....one rests on the lawn of the ROTTENdam town clerks front lawn. wth????

Garrow brings fresh ideas to Mohonasen I would like to talk about the Mohonasen school board election coming up. There are seven candidates to fill three positions and quite a myriad of candidates.
Looking them over, one candidate stands out considerably. Dan Garrow is by far the youngest candidate and I feel this is a tremendous asset to his list of qualifications. He was a student at Mohonasen just a few years ago. This alone provides us with first-hand experience and a fresh look at some of the issues facing the students and faculty.
Dan Garrow has been out and about in all of our neighborhoods going door to door, talking to the people in the area and listening to their comments about the district. He is energetic, intelligent and by far the most dedicated candidate listed.
I strongly urge everyone who is in the Mohonasen school district to take a good look at each candidate and you will see for yourself the one who stands out. It’s time we bring some new and younger blood to the table, with youth, fresh ideas, enthusiasm and sincere concern. Dan Garrow is, by far, the right choice.

That was 2012 and he doesn't list his associates degree on his bio. So I would say he is a starter not a finisher, and that is not what the school board needs these days.
Three positions open and I see at least 4 others that are immeasurably more qualified to sit on this board, and they are all residents of the town. Unlike this political dud!?

I agree. In doing the research on the Guilderland Ave address, it looks like the owner of the building is no longer Sunmark. It is someone with the same last name as the Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature....could it be a friend who can confirm that the candidate is a Rotterdam tenant? And the huge sign on Curry Rd for this candidate...well, everyone knows the political affiliation there. It sure looks like Democrat politics to me!

Dan is my nephew. He has lived almost his entire life in Rotterdam. He did move to 12th Street to be in the city when he ran for the city school board. He started his Garrow Landscaping business in 2012 and made over $50,000 his first year. He's 25 years old, has a realtor's license and wants to go into politics. He owns an immaculate 2 family home on Brandywine Avenue which he rents out, and keeps it perfect. He was never into drugs, and he believes in his community. He understands school taxes and property taxes, because he also pays them as a homeowner. He is investing in Schenectady County when others like me, want to flee. He was raised by a beautiful compassionate mother who fought cancer several times, succumbing to the cancer about 2 years ago. People want to bash the kid for not finishing high school, but he was there for his mother which is a lot for a teenager to handle. Daniel is a decent hard working, law abiding, young man with plans to serve the community. I would be proud if he was my son. He has always had one job and often worked 2 jobs. He is an actual product of the Mohonasen school district and he sees only positive things for Schenectady County. Unlike me. We don't always agree on politics, but he has always urged me to go to town board meetings and speaking up, but that's something I have any interest in. As far as all the above gripes, not one of the complaints mentions why any other candidate deserves to be elected. I will be voting for Daniel for the following reason. Because he isn't part of the incumbent regime who received the increased state aide, but chose not to lower school taxes.
But if you people are happy with the way the incumbents raise taxes and can't control spending at all, then go ahead and vote to keep them in office.
The incumbents put out the hate posts and you all gobble it up, knowing absolutely nothing about him.
Daniel isn't out there bashing the other candidates. He talks to people every day, about what he would like to do for them.
Other candidates, are out there badmouthing him as inexperienced, but I would rather not have hardcore professional experienced spenders raising my taxes even higher.
Margaret Bielecki is his aunt, but she is a wonderful loving person, that knows what she is talking about.
That isn't a reason to vote for other candidates.
Their own accomplishments of keeping school taxes down, reducing class sizes and reducing the dropout rates, should be their sales pitch, but unfortunately they have been miserable failures at keeping taxes down, reducing class sizes and trying to reduce dropout rates. Touting experience when you have failed is not a reason to re-elect those who will continue to do the same old thing.

So, you have thoroughly examined all the candidates and their performance records as incumbents?
