He routinely would have kids in his High school class whose mothers were still in their 20's. Another thing that was heartbreaking was how many of the urban girls who aspired to go to college had there dreams dashed by falling into the same trap their mothers did by getting pregnant at 14-15 years old.

IMHO, the best thing the gov't can do improve the situation in urban areas? Make birth control AND abortion free...in the long run, it would actually cost the taxpayer less.

I don't agree.  Govt can't correct this by pumping carcinogens into teen girls to prevent pregnancy.  May as well castrate teen boys.

I assume by reading your solution, you are fine with 14 year olds having sex as long as it doesn't cost you tax money or disrupts your school.  I won't fall into that trap of thinking.

In his opinion, the biggest hindrance for the kids is their parents are kids also.

This we agree on!
Most parents in Nisky are 'education driven'.
And most of kids are a product of 'advantage'.

On this we disagree.

Well heck, we always just follow Nancy Reagan and do the "Just say no" thing..works for Drugs, right?
Doing nothing but bitching about it is just doing nothing.

You live in your world and I'll live the real one. Teenagers HAVE, ARE, AND WILL continue to have sex.
We may not like it, but it's the way things are. My idea at least has a chance to curb the "kids having kids" problem. You do realize that clinical studies have PROVEN that birth control pills reduce the chance of some cancers in females, right?

Hey, when I was 14 or 15, I wasn't having sex...Were you?  Maybe I was a prude.  Human beings haven't biologically changed in thousands of years, yet today, chemically altering ones body hormones is the only solution to the consequences of sex.

It's a fast food society with fast food solutions.  I need free government antacids and statins for the heartburn I get after eating McDonalds and the high cholesterol I develop.  Because I'll never stop eating McDonalds no matter how bad the indigestion, or how high my cholesterol is, because I live in the real world.

Quote all the clinical studies you want, oral birth control is a carcinogen in the same class as tobacco.  Chemotherapy reduces cancer cells too, and most chemo is also a carcinogen.

i wasn't either, but if you think you're going to change behavior by a "just don't do it" campaign, you're fooling yourself.
Suburban kids have sex also, BUT their parents have the means to either get them on birth control and/or have an unwanted pregnancy terminated.
More money and better schools aren't going to help if the child becomes a mother and can't got to school or study because of it, and the male flees because he is scared/unable to support the child he created.

So, since you're so anti-pharm, is it safe to assume you take no prescriptions?
BTW, the study that indicated increased cancer risk involved SOME oral birth control pills, specifically the high estrogen ones, which not all women are on.
Of course, there's non-oral contraception, are you against that too?

Recent cancer research is also indicating that DNA and heredity have MORE to do with contracting most common cancers, than any external factor.
Also, in regard to statin drugs, in many cases, its heredity and DNA, not McDonald's, that predisposes them to high cholesterol. No diet or exercise will change that. And high blood cholesterol does NOT mean you have or will have heart disease. There is an available test to determine if that high cholesterol is depositing in your arteries, for some people, there is NO correlation.
