LOL gotcha. I tend to not be so polite. I am according to my niece a "curmudgeon". I kind of like the description myself.

Apparently, the author of this thread believes that a mayor should be like a mythical Greek god and control every aspect of life in the city. I think the author of this thread - who by the way can't decide whether he/she is a he or a she or one of several personalities - thinks that he/she knows everything and can do everything better than anyone else.
In the meantime, I am 1000% satisfied with the good job that Mayor McCarthy is doing and, also, believe that the Schenectady public school system has many wonderful administrators, support staff, teachers, parents and students. The overwhelming majority of those involved in the public school work hard and deserve our respect and praise. The "bad apples" deserved to be dealt with and - yes - there are problems to fix. However, it is about time we give credit to those who work hard and make a positive difference in our world and in the lives of our children.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Naturally you are satisfied. You REFUSE to live IN the city, you don't pay taxes, you don't use city services, you don't have a home value that's falling, you don't have to pay the outrageous fees in the city, you are not a low income parent who cannot afford tuition at a private or parochial school and be without a charter school alternative to a failing lousy and dangerous government school system.

Lots of great students and good news at Schenectady High School -- here is just one example:
Student artwork selected for regional exhibit The 16th Annual High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition will include pieces from six Schenectady High School students. The exhibit is sponsored by the Capital Area Arts Supervisors at The Esther Massry Gallery at The College of St. Rose. Students from twenty-one school districts submitted a total of 425 pieces from which 104 pieces were selected for the exhibit. The review panel consisted of art educators and artists who considered many factors including mastery of technical skill and the ability to go beyond technical, when selecting works for the exhibit.
