Tax base falling, tax bills rising, essential city services cut or reduced, home sales falling, home sale prices falling, home values falling with homeowners being taxes on a value way far higher than the value of there house, tax foreclosures on the rise.   Car you explain why?   Oh we know you won't address these FACTS.

It was well observed that you did NOT respond about the story on Baker have where a police car got stuck.   You just go and hide when the truth is put in front of you.

I have driven in Greene, Saratoga and Albany Counties as well as different parts of Schenectady County including everyday to my office INSIDE the City of Schenectady.  I stand by my previous statement that the winter weather has been brutal on roads all over.  

Christler ave down by the bridge and monroe muffler is so bad.....I feel like my car is going to fall in a pothole and drop me straight into hell thats how big the holes are.

had to bring a coworker home last night. Somewhere in the maze of coldbrook!!! It's either argo blvd or one of those streets near it. THE ROAD IS HORRENDOUS!!!! It's like the road is ripped up!!!

Based on the premise of this thread, the worst streets would be the ones that were given the new, thin top coat instead of what had been done in the past.  I have not and will not say that the new method employed was a good idea.  Quite frankly, it doesn't seem logical to just put a thin veneer over a bad foundation.  It doesn't sound like a very cost effective plan in the long term.  It always makes more sense and saves a whole bunch of cents to do the job RIGHT once (the first time) than to do it "on the cheap."

Given the fact that folks have been reporting bad conditions on a number of streets in a number of municipal jurisdictions, it would be interesting/important to know how old the road surfaces are, when were they last rebuilt and/or repaved the condition going into the start of the winter, contributing factors such as weight and volume of traffic, etc.

Also, I think that a much better job could be done - in all communities - to clear snowbanks that are spilling into parking and traffic lanes as well as the huge mounds building up by corners and  intersections which only make it more difficult to obtain a good line of sight.

It's funny, the article in the paper admits the cheapo 'repaving' method didn't hold up, there was a letter to that effect about the streets downtown before this winter, but people here are still arguing that is not the case.

Gee, Eastern Ave--the section where the photo was from the newspaper) was all ripped up not even 20 years ago, every speck of asphalt, and totally redone, new curbs and everything.  And it's been repaved a few times.

But of course, Schenectady's method of repaving is cheaper, you know, because they have to take money from the taxpayers in the neighborhoods and give it to their millionaire political cronies, building them lavish new buildings.   But you won't EVER address why the rich are getting new buildings and homeowners can't afford to make repairs to their homes.

And YOU were the one that said the city and metroplex are paying tremendous dividends to the city, but then explain why the homeowners in the neighborhoods have such sh*t streets and their home values are MASSIVELY falling and the mayor ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to reduce their assessments?   You swon't address the facts, will you

Uh, DV, "spilling" into the traffic lanes.  Uh, DV, do you really man that mayor that you shake your "pom poms" for, cheering, proclaiming he is doing a WONDERFUL job in the city?   You are referring to his REFUSAL to push snow back to the curbs like this city of Schenectady street?




This snow is NOT "spilling" into the street, that lover of yours McTHIEF ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to push snow off the street to begin with!

I trust you can SEE in this photo how your beloved mayor REFUSED to require PROPER snow plowing service to the TAXPAYERS and residents in their neighborhoods while he spends their money on his precious downtown millionaires?


  




Would you care to address why YOUR beloved mayor REFUSES to go after big business, CVS and force them to shovel their sidewalk at Brandywine Avenue and Eastern Avenue where the MAYOR FORCES people to risk getting killed walking in the street?


Albany is no where near this extreme.  
Troy is no where near this extreme.
Saratoga is no where near this extreme.

The leaders of these cities spend the taxpayers' money on the taxpayers in their neighborhoods.   But of course, as you are not a taxpayer, you wouldn't understand anyway.

One big issue I'm noticing is people are not using their driveways, instead are parking on the road making it impossible for plows to even fit on the street. These roads have not been plowed at all or salted and they are not enforcing the snow emergency parking rules. This city sucks when it comes to the roads but citizens need to play their role as well, a little unity during these times can go a long way for everyone.

Speaking of unity in these difficult times.   A thought.   Would'nt it be better and most helpful to a struggling city to have all city employees reside in the City to help in rebuilding it?   Via home ownership, thus increasing it's tax base/renovating homes/neighborhoods.   Giving back as it's said.

It would help on many fronts especially in law enforcement of the city, but those who hold the jobs want no part of this city besides the money they make from it. One example is a board member here who tried to defend the right of cops to live outside the area, his reason, someone spit on his car for being a cop....if only all of us had it so easy living here
