If an average homeowner wants to fix his or her house or open a business in the City of Schenectady they have to provide tons of documents. But The Galesi Group and Rush Casino is getting a free pass! #RUBBER STAMPING MAYOR & HIS TEAM OF CRONIES!

The City Council will meet Monday night to approve zoning changes to its waterfront district that will allow taller buildings and 19,000 square feet of signage in accordance with what the developers of the $450 million Rivers Casino and Resort at Mohawk Harbor site have requested.

The City Council is expected to pass the changes, which ups the maximum height of buildings from 56 feet to 110 feet (about five stories to 10) and drops the buffer to the Mohawk River from 50 feet to 40 feet. Pylon signs may reach up to 90 feet, roughly the height of an eight-story building.

While neither the City Planning Commission, which approved the change, nor the City Council received artist renderings showing what 19,000 square feet worth of signs on the property will look like, Councilman Vince Riggi said Galesi Group and Rush Street Gaming of Chicago provided pictures of signs at another Rush Street casino. The tallest one pictured is 65 feet, and it doesn't give any indication of what the signs would look like at Mohawk Harbor, Riggi said.

Will there be an environmental impact study done due to the location so near the river?

It's nothing more than a cluster fu(k.....as usual!
I predict that Galesi/Rush will get all kinds of $$$$ and tax breaks, but in the end it won't look remotely like what was promised.
and I have to believe that they all know that!
this isn't even close to where this casino should be built.
but they will give galesi ANYTHING they want....they own everything!!!

Yes, they are going to get smaller versions of the 2000 ft ladder trucks they use in NYC.

Is that a real question ? . Do you think an architect/engineer will have this figured out ?

Let me give you a hint-  first, most probably the windows above the 2 or 3rd flor dont open  so guess what ? the building will have a ladder built in ( the stairs )
firefighters go up the stairs, plug their hoses into a standpipe located on each floor of the stairwell and fight the fire from the inside -

100 ft high building built on the edge of a clay riverbank and hazardous waste.

This should work out well.

Sorry man- didnt mean that.

Sure crazy sh!t can happen. Im not an engineer.  The Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge sits on the other side of a railroad track that occasionally has a train stopped. So the Casino has a full sized firetruck parked in the parking lot 24/7.  there are firemen/ paramedics or whatever  that can operate it  there 24/7 at the casinos expense.
