Long ride. You have to change stations in NYC. I would suggest a sleeper car if you are going to do it...you don't want to be in the other cars. Flying is quickest/easiest, unless flying is not your thing. Usually fares for flying are around same as train. Bus...you'll be more tired when you arrive then you want. Just my opinions! |

The Chinese bus leaves 900 State St every couple hours every day. It costs $15 to go to Manhattan.
They also have a bus that goes from Manhattan to Orlando for $50.
The Manhattan bus takes 20 hours to get to Florida.
The train isn't much quicker because of all the stops. |

I agree with the sleeping car suggestion if you take the train. Trains are a very enjoyable way to travel. As for taking a bus that distance- do that only if you want to experience hell on earth. In college, I took a bus from here to Denver. It was the worst experience of my life. Personally, I don't care to travel by airplane. |

Thanks all I can't fly due to panic attacks, I'd be one of the people you 'd hear about on the news that freaked out. I was checking train amounts sleeper cars are real expensive. Going to keep checking prices etc . Really wish I could fly 3hrs vs 27 plus bus/train. |

Have you talked to Dr about med for panic attack? They have some very mild stuff that could help you. |

Sleeper cars cost as much or more than flights, because they know they've got you, if you are afraid of flying. My mother took a train from Florida, at first she told me there were temperature problems on one leg of the trip, but later she told me everything was fine. Go figure. You need a blanket, you have to bring their own and they limit luggage, so be aware. rp, did you try flying and panic, or are you just afraid you will panic? I used to be a rather panicky person when traveling, but when I finally flew in a plane I found it didn't bother me. It is a relatively short flight, perhaps you are limiting yourself unnecessarily. Good luck. |

flying is a no brainer.....RP...they have all sorts of med and devices so you can fly....it's much easier...and shorter....to be on a bus or train???
you don't know how long it will take...if you have to change ....and it really is uncomfortable...especially is you have some aches and pains...
I have heard horror stories about both...so now I take a pill....shut my eyes....and "off into the wild blue yonder"....Good luck...

I have traveled by train a half dozen times in the last 4 or five years but not to Fla.
Ive taken mom twice to Niagara falls.Have your passport. The train station is either on the american side or the canadian side. I also took her up and down the west coast. I got the roomette - yes they are expensive.. Booking a looooong way in the future will help The porter comes in and pulls them out/down t when you get sleepy.
The meals in the dinning car were included with the roomette. Mom was about 80 something- the train is comfortable. but sometimes walking can be tricky
Or go business class- that used to be a confirmed seat with some free snaks That will be about like a plane ticket. |

Red Wine...Xanax for the common folk. Panic attacks haven't killed you yet. Turn off the TV and stop reading the news and following the threads on this forum for a few weeks. You will have a new reality, and realize the your world isn't that scary, and 99.9% of your life, you are perfectly safe and there is nothing to be anxious about. |

I've had panic attacks since high school, they are severe and can come on out of no where. Do take medication which works but know it will have no effect on a plane as I cannot be in an area where I cannot "escape" when I need to. Even when I have an MRI done to check my plaques the extra anti anxiety med I take does not help at all.
Cicero lol, if only if were that easy.

When you get on the plane, order 2 double rum and cokes for you and 2 for your wife. You won't even remember the flight. |

Oh, nobody thinks it's easy, rp, we understand you have a serious problem to deal with. We just don't want to see you put yourself through a worse ordeal to avoid what is the scariest up front. |

I give a $20 to the attendant, order the first drink, and tell the attendant to hang on to the twenty til the end of the flight. I usually don't go over $20. |
