PARIS (AP) — Masked gunmen shouting "Allahu akbar!" stormed the Paris offices of a satirical newspaper Wednesday, killing 12 people, including the paper's editor, before escaping in a getaway car. It was France's deadliest terror attack in living memory.
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said security forces were hunting for three gunmen after the noon-time attack on the weekly, whose caricatures of the Prophet Muhammed have frequently drawn condemnation from Muslims. Twelve people died and eight were wounded, including four critically, officials said.
French President Francois Hollande called the slayings "a terrorist attack without a doubt" and said several other attacks have been thwarted in France "in recent weeks."
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

Buck, no offense, but have been in France many, many times, and never saw a policeman that wasn't armed. All wear side arms, and many carry assault weapons also. This is observation of police in Paris, at rail stations, in northeast of France, in Normandy area and in both airports.
As for this attack, it appears to have been very well planned to maximize intent and escape without issue. They didn't "pray and spray"...they were quite efficient with their weapons and very disciplined in how they fired and carried out the entire attack. Not sure it could have been stopped, but maybe prevented if intel had indicated the potential for this attack. Not sure we'll every really know.

I take no offense, nor do I question or challenge your observations when you were in France. I'm going by the reports that have been given and they all say that a significant portion of Paris cops aren't armed. I don't now when this policy was adopted or the politics behind this policy....But it's France and a very socialist one at that.

AGREE! It's amazing to me...I observed the French efficiency at the airports and train stations as top notch... but here in the heart of their capital and top tourist spot, where their economy depends, they were totally asleep!

Oh how easily the sensibilities of the American public gets offended. Twelve people dead at the hands of THREE gunman, and the world is condemning this as if the Germans just invaded Poland.
