WITH city, county and state officials DOES make a difference.

GOV ALMIGHTY can NOT legislate morals or values.
They can only legislate new laws....that apparently have not been working so far... obviously.
This is the society/culture we live in today...different morals...different values.
Lots and lots of legal and illegal mind altering drugs out there.
There are no jobs.
Home foreclosures NATIONWIDE is at an all time high.
Corporate AND government greed is shameful.
Cops are out of control.
Unnecessary wars.
A pathetic economy.
.......the way i see it.....the government created this social/cultural mess....they need to 'step back' or be 'pushed back'.

While the city IS improving,

Really?   How?

Tax base falling, HOW does this FACT mean the city is improving?

Home values falling, can you explain how this means the city is improving?

Home sales falling, does that mean the city is improving?

Home sale prices falling, how does that mean the city is improving?

More people putting up their homes for sale in order to flee the city, is that an indicator of a city that is improving?

Houses (often very beautiful, highly desirable) take a year, two years, three years to sell, DV, are you really going to say that's an indication that is improving?

Record high numbers of vacant residential units (because bother owners AND renters have fled, does that mean the city is improving?

Taxes increasing along with services decreasing or eliminated, how is that an indicator of an improving city?

Homeowners having to pay their own taxes PLUS the taxes of politically connected millionaires, under threat from the city that their home will be seized for non payment of taxes, does that mean the city is improving?

A multibillion dollar company REFUSES to demolish a building it owns at its own expense -- that's an indication of a city that is improving?   Homeowners can't afford to make their own repairs but they have to pay for the demolition of a billionaire's building, that's an improvement?

Neighborhoods where the taxpayers live are ignored, but downtown where the millionaires are are taken care of tax taxpayer expenses is an improvement in the city?   DV, would you care to explain how low income people paying for the rich is a good thing?

Taxpayer funded gin mills is an improvement when taxpayers lose their homes, unable to pay for the gin mills

A city that allows it's politically connected tax deadbeats keep their houses rather than being foreclosed upon is an indicator of a city that is improving?   Increasing the taxes on the struggling homeowner to make them pay for the delinquent taxes of the deadbeat politically connected, is that an improvement?

Naturally, we all know that you will NOT list things that are improving (because you can't find anything that is), you will NOT address the ever falling tax base, the falling home sales and prices, the poor paying for the rich politically connected, the increasing taxes and decreasing services.

You claim the city is improving but you won't even go to church IN the city anymore, won't even put your pinky toe IN the city.

If the city is improving, WHY do you REFUSE to live IN the city??????    Why do you avoid answering that question?

You claim the city is improving -- in light of the corruption in the city:
-- the kickbacks from billionaire Galesi to the political campaigns of the dems in return for making the homeowners pay the company's taxes.
-- the mayor's hypocrisy by allowing the police chief live outside the city, avoid paying taxes despite the mayor stating he wants department heads to live IN the city.
-- appointing a totally unqualified person to the position of assessor, especially at a time when the city is the second highest over-assessed city in the whole state of NY.
-- Using tax money to give to politically connected for their own homes with no-interest mortgages and no requirement of making mortgage payments on a regular basis (see, DV, as you are not and never owned a house, never had a mortgage, never personally financed anything, obviously you wouldn't know that loans require regular payments at regular intervals.

And do you want to address the biggest corruption?   The following politically connected tax deadbeats who are 3 years and more behind in their taxes but the city dems have allowed them to keep their homes.
Joe Allen, former councilman
Marcella, who also has tax exempt property built at taxpayer expense
Tanya Hull, county employee, school board member
Metroplex architect Frank Gilmore and his city real estate agent and board of assessment member Mary D'allesandro
Joe Piazzo, Proctor's employee
To name a few

DV, are you willing to respond and address the corruption of the politically connected tax deadbeats being allowed to keep their homes?

The city is improving?   Ten years of the above and no improvements in sight, a city where you can't even buy a new car?   That's an improvement?

I know, same old questions.   Yes, year after year after year, same questions asked, and DV can't answer them, no proof.

Year after year after year, tax base falls, taxes increase, home values fall, home sales fall, home sale prices fall, essential services reduced.

But, new UNNCESSARY fancy light poles installed, that is an improvement.   How?   How do the taxpayer funded fancy light poles help he tax base, the living conditions in the neighborhoods, the tax base, the tax bills?   Ah, no answer.

Your ignorant responses don't solve any problems.  But working TOGETHER ... WITH OTHERS ... IN the community  .. and WITH city, county and state officials DOES make a difference.

Yeah, working with the city, county and state officials by using city taxes, county taxes, and state taxes--by increasing taxes on the financially struggling low income homeowners in the city and then the city, county, and state official dole out that tax money to politically connected millionaires and billionaires, in return for the political contribution kickbacks.

DV, increasing taxes on the poor to exempt the politically connected rich in return for kickbacks to political campaigns -- that is what you call "working together?"

And someone we know who goes to the church in MP never sees you there anymore--the fact that your two mommies put your name on donations does NOT make you an active parishioner.   And the other two parishes are NOT IN the city, except for a few floor tiles.

Are board members prohibited from challenging others to explain their statements?   Guess DV goes crying to you for support  because he doesn't have any guts to explain and address all the facts that disprove what he claims?

"Awe, there there, DV, my little boy, you don't have the knowledge to address the questions posed to you, don't cry, don't worry, I'll take care of you."
and as DV dries his eyes, "oh, thank you Bumble, I'm forever indebted to you, but sorry, I have nothing to give you."

Home foreclosures NATIONWIDE is at an all time high.

Really?

Quoted Text
NEW YORK (CNNMoney)

Last year was a banner year in the fight against foreclosures, with filings hitting their lowest level since 2007.

Total foreclosure filings for 2013, including notices of default, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, were reported on 1.36 million properties, down 26% from 2012, according to RealtyTrac.

Quoted Text
Title:  Delinquency and Foreclosure Rates Decline to Lowest Level in Six Years
Source:     MBA
Date:  2/20/2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 20, 2014) — The delinquency rate for mortgage loans on one-to-four-unit residential properties decreased to a seasonally adjusted rate of 6.39 percent of all loans outstanding at the end of the fourth quarter of 2013, the lowest level since the first quarter of 2008.  The delinquency rate decreased two basis points from the previous quarter, and 70 basis points from one year ago, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) National Delinquency Survey.
The delinquency rate includes loans that are at least one payment past due but does not include loans in the process of foreclosure.  The percentage of loans in the foreclosure process at the end of the fourth quarter was 2.86 percent, down 22 basis points from the third quarter and 88 basis points lower than one year ago.  This was the lowest foreclosure inventory rate seen since 2008.

The non-seasonally adjusted percentage of loans on which foreclosure actions were started during the fourth quarter decreased to 0.54 percent from 0.61 percent, a decrease of sevenbasis points, and the lowest level since 2006.

The serious delinquency rate, the percentage of loans that are 90 days or more past due or in the process of foreclosure, was 5.41 percent, a decrease of 24 basis points from last quarter, and a decrease of 137 basis points from the fourth quarter of last year.

Yes, just a couple stories, but those are mortgage foreclosure.   It's the TAX FORECLOSURE that the issue.   But more importantly it's the reason that the tax foreclosures in Schenectady are so high.   Homeowners are being forced to pay for downtown and in doing so, they are NOT getting ANYTHING in return.  Paying for the new  buildings downtown, paying the property taxes of downtown is doing NOTHING for the homeowners but causing taxes to rise, services to fall, tax base to fall, and houses won't even sell.  If people lost homes to tax foreclosure because of increase in taxes to pay for snow plowing and trash collection services, that would be one thing.  But people are losing their homes due to paying the taxes of politically connected millionaires to give kickbacks the city/co/plex leaders.  AND people are losing their homes due to paying taxes of people like Joe Allen, the metroplex architect Gilmore and his wife (who also LIED and were double dippers on STAR), the Proctor's employee (who also got tax money for his no-interest mortgage that he has not paid)  etc.

You chose to only quote a few words -- the full statement is that EVERYONE or at least a large number of folks from all the various segments need to WORK TOGETHER to solve our community problems.  Legislation is - at best - only part of the solution .. and a lot of other things need to be done besides writing new laws.

Most of the people - the overwhelming majority of people - in Mont Pleasant are good, decent people.  The bad element is a tiny percentage of the whole.

We can work together and turn things around .. and we will.

You mean like letting Amtrak and Conrail figure out who is going to fix the and/or replace the Oak Street bridge, which WAS a main connector between Mt Pleasant and Bellevue? That engineering report was supposed to be due by now... McCarthy should be DEMANDING that the results be released.

You can bet your life if this bridge connected ANY part of downtown it would been fixed or replaced months or years ago...Just a glaring example of how any part of the city outside of downtown gets absolute sh!t from cityhall.

my point is that it is the GOVERNMENT (local or otherwise) has 'created' this mess. And it isn't a dem or rep issue...cause the outcome would have been the same. there is clearly enough blame to go around.
First and foremost....the exit of Generous Electric was the beginning of the fall.
Second...the powers that be thought they could remedy the situation and obviously failed miserably.

Our local government, like the federal government are spending w-a-y above their means, with OUR money.

GOV ALMIGHTY has created this mess and yet folks are still looking to them to fix it......THEY CAN'T!!

Churches, schools, non profits, food pantries are feeding and clothing thousands(through donations)....and good for them!

But the fact is.....the GOVERNMENT has created...
High taxes
no jobs
foreclosures
failed infrastructure
created patronage jobs
a lucrative welfare system
tax exemptions
a militarized police force
blah blah blah....
The governments job is ONLY to create a safe environment, and sound infrastructure with low taxes.....they can't even do that!!!
All they know how to do is throw money at a problem that isn't theirs to handle and legislate more stupid laws. None of which obviously works.

this corruption is EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!
and most foreclosures are due to high taxation or loans that shouldn't have been approved to begin with....OR.....just irresponsible homeowners. (cause there are many of them too)
It's the 'system' that needs to be changed!!!!!
and I don't hear ANYONE....at any level of government campaigning on 'changing the system' or the way 'gov does business'....NO ONE!!!!!

I don't doubt that you want anything but good things for the city, but having a parish and having an office in the city is not the same as having you children less than a block away from the scene of what is, in reality, a drive-by shooting. It is not the same as having bullet holes in your neighbors house.

Positive wishes and hoping things improve is not good enough anymore. That will not keep my children safe.

I don't care what the government does anymore to try to fix these issues. My spouse and I have decided that we will be leaving the city of Schenectady come hell or high water. Worrying about it hurting us financially is no longer a priority. The safety of our children is.
