Daily Gazette article Wednesday, November 19, 2014 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.dailygazette.com/See HTML Version of article By Bethany BumpRotterdam Town Board unable to agree on budget ROTTERDAM — Rotterdam has a budget for next year, but half the Town Board does not like it. The $22.45 million spending plan keeps town services at the same level and imposes no layoffs. It will result in a tax cut of $66 per year for a homeowner whose home is assessed at the average value of $173,456, but it requires the town borrow $800,000 from the state to cover pension costs, a move Republican Town Board members say is irresponsible and unwise. “This requires payment of interest,” said board member Joe Villano. “It’s not a free loan that we’re getting from the state. Unfortunately and somewhat surprising to me, dozens of cities and counties and towns, especially those in upstate New York, have embraced this program. They’re postponing billions of dollars in contributions to the state pension system, with the future cost being passed on to our children.” |

JV is smart, articulate, and doing his job protecting the residents, party independent. It is no wonder both Dems announced they would not run again, pass off the reins of failure to someone else. When you are in a hole, you don't dig deeper to get out. Can't enjoy a champagne diet on a beer budget. Cuts are in order, JV recognized this some time ago. Who wants sewers? Schenectady city people pay a fortune in fee for sewer. Just read this morning that people in Ballston Spa are actually looking for sewers which will cost them $723 per year. Why would ANYONE want to pay that kind of cost in Rotterdam when you can pay only $50 a year ($150 for a pump out of septic every three years). |

the complaint is that no development can happen without sewers...I'm not sure what kind of development they are talking about we have no comp plan 5/10/15/20 years.....it's like Rotterdam has a bunch people who sit around rubbing their dimes together and hoping to get tossed some 'free bones' from the county/state/feds....no plan, just when the $$ shows up no one knows where it goes, much less what to do with it..... even when the town gets 'educated' studies, we don't listen....we hire firm after firm to study study and study more sh!t.....and have no F'EN plan as to how the town should look or move forward.... it's much more than sewers....the septic effluent that floats through this town needs to be skimmed off and tossed....but they keep popping up like floaters....and it's starting to stink. |

the $50 year is so that the F'EN leaf bags and brush can get picked up.....
you see it's called the 'service' we provide even though we F'ED up with our future.....
we don't need leaves picked up.....these people are ALREADY getting paid by my tax dollars and why there is a 'retirement' issue is beyond me.... I don't know why we have a stupid composting facility when there is one that everyone can use in glenville....
I thought the composting facility was to 'make money' for the town...or was it that someone's kids needed employment....
you see, this is how short sighted....no plan, no future |
