Unfortunately, all those metroplex businesses advertise in their papers.  The media will not report negative stories in fear of losing advertisement revenue from businesses on the public dole(which is a lot of them).  The Internet is the only source that is not compromised in this way.

The reps will have a shot when the Dems can't deliver the pork to every party member that thinks they deserve MORE.  Then the democrats who don't think they are getting their cut of the taxpayer pie will switch party enrollment to republican to fight for control of government using a different vehicle.  For the most part, it's the same greedy scumbags that go between parties looking for the path of least resistance in their journey to line their pockets with tax dollars.  

As long as the democrat party can keep their members greed on check, there will be no political opposition.  Once members of the party believe they deserve more than other members are getting, then there will be enough motivation for political opposition.  Unfortunately, the political opposition is from the same greedy, corrupt,  bunch of scumbags.

It is even more incestuous than I thought! No matter how cynically I see things, I still find the Schit City and Damnrotten always surprise me with even further examples of crookedness!

For some reason, people want to believe the people they see every day are "good" or something. Maybe it makes them feel safe, I don't know.
I talked to a guy who moved up here from Long Island, he said one thing he couldn't stand about that place was how the people admired someone like John Gotti, actually fawned over him. That's an extreme example, but it goes to show you that there is that "see no evil" mentality out there, and if you try to make people wake up and face reality, many of them will revile you for cracking their fragile veneer.

It's not so much dumb voters, as dumb residents who don't vote. I know people who have to juggle paying the mortgage with paying the utilities, who can't be bothered to take the under 30 minutes of their time to vote. I do not understand it. Of course, I also know homeowners who never filed for their STAR exemption. Really. That one had me dumbfounded.
