Mt Pleasant Bakery is directly across from the police cameras.

Great coverage of the gangland style robbery by the Gazetto-no? The renaissance in Mt Pleasant continues. The bakery and Combo's should have fled to Rotterdam
20 years ago. Where is McCheese and the commiss on this? The crime wave doesn't look so bad from Clifton Park. Keep the implosion going.

it is a shame what has happened to Mt Pleasant. My grandparents owned a two family on 3rd Avenue and our family lived there until 1967. I walked with my mom to Mt Pleasant bakery and I would always get a free cookie . i would park my pedal car in a parking spot at the PNA when my grandfather would take me there. It was nice little neighborhood back then. But starting in the early seventies, the owners started dying off and their kids, who had long since moved to their homes in the 'burbs, sold the two families to landlords who didn't care who occupied the dwellings... if fact, the more gubment section 8 tenants they had, the better...at least it was a check they could count on... Now you see what almost of 50 years of "great society" programs have done... it makes me feel awful every time I have to drive by that neighborhood.

Ankers opened stores in 3 locations in Rotterdam, unsuccessfully.

They were not opened by the owner of the current store on Altamont ave...long story that I don't know the entire tale, but the Scotia and Rotterdam stores were not owned by the original one.

the bakery should have been courted by Rotterdam instead of the stupid bank

The original Ankers is owned by Bobby Servidone.

The other stores were his in-laws, but all of the menu items were the same, with a couple minor exceptions.

They tried 3 locations in Rotterdam, with no luck.

I never heard of a Scotia store.

Concern with them is cleanliness issues they have been cited for.

Police were called to the Upper Union area last night after two men were seen looking into parked cars with a flashlight and trying the door handles. I don't know what happened after. I do know of a case about a year ago or so, where a resident was able to keep a young kid in view, who was going into cars in broad daylight, until cops arrived. The police thought the kid may have been put up to it by an adult, but I don't know what happened there either.
It surprises me, the number of people who leave valuables in the car in plain sight, as stealing from unlocked vehicles is something that happens anywhere, anytime.

The news black out is equally disturbing. All the Joseph Goebbels faxes that are unfit to print? Upper Union has also been going downhill for decades. No groceries-no drug
stores-Ben and Jerry's flees for another pizza shop. Back in the day no one on Upper Union locked their door. Now you can't even walk your poodle on Dean St. some pit bull may
jump out of a window and kill him. I know this is happening in every Northeast city and it's really a renaissance that has occurred. Give us a break and try printing some of
the political mischief and self dealing around here.
