"for you its nothing but a political protest...typical..."

Bucky is full of BS as usual!
How is shopping at Price Chopper or Hanniford instead of others a "POLITICAL PROTEST"?
Buck seems to take issue with every thing that I post.  If I post that the sun comes up in the East,
Bucky would swear that is 'liberal propaganda" and that the sun actually rises in the West!

Looks like Bucky ate a big bowl of 'grumpy flakes' for breakfast!

I don't buy food at drug stores, at convenient stores or at Walmart, Kmart or Target.
I buy food at stores who sell FOOD!

I buy food from people who primarily sell FOOD.  Even if it's the same food from the same distributor
at the same price, a "food store" has food as their main focus.
Target, Walmart, Kmart etc sell food as a part of their business.  Their focus is usually on PRICE, not
on Quality, in an attempt to draw shoppers from their actual 'food stores'.
I shop at the co-op, at local producers, at farm stores in season, at farmers markets and at 'food stores' for
what I eat.

I remember when Kmart first started selling 'food' in their stores.  If I needed a flashlight battery, I waited in line
behind some woman with 5 kids and a weeks supply of groceries in her cart to cash out.
Then when I finally got to the cashier,  the conveyor belt had a huge spot of leaked milk going round and
round till it dried by itself.  Not the place that I would want to place a shirt or pair of pants to be cashed out.

IMO, If price is your main focus, you might want to shop the discount stores.  If quality is what you are looking for,
then shop at a store who is serious about selling food.

First of all, either you forgot to take your ginkgo biloba (memory supplement) or you should consider starting to take it as you mistook me for Buckstrider for the 2nd time in the last couple of months.

Second, NOT shopping at those evil corporations like Walmart and chain convenience stores fits right into the misguided llberal idea that you will somehow make a difference even its doing nothing but costing you more money for the same product.

BTW, the ginkgo biloba is probably available at the evil Walmart, or you can pay the twice the amount for the same product at GNC.

LOL... do you know how many times I've seen the milk trail at "food" stores???

I am concerned about price and quality... if it is the SAME product at the lower price, I buy it at the lower price regardless of where it is stocked.
I'll bring it home, put in my fridge or pantry and it will look and taste the same as if I bought it at a "food" store...The only difference is my wallet will have a little more in it....

Guilty!
Is Bucky your twin brother?
Your rants seem to have so much in common that I have difficulty telling you two apart!

I will attempt to do better in the future!

Everyone who doesn't agree with you and the DNC in lockstep might as well be clones of each other because you are too lazy to look any further to differentiate... it's easier that way....

Bucky... oops Tbird sees "liberal conspiracy" in every post!!!

Um Tbird... check out my post for content with out your LIBERAL HATING preconceived notions and you'll
see that my post has no politics involved.
I shop at Target regularly.  I seldom shop at Walmart because they sell $hit and I prefer not to patronize a
store who sells $hit.  Target also sells $hit but also sells actual products that are of value.

I don't buy groceries at PART TIME Grocery Stores.  I prefer to buy FOOD at stores who are serious about
selling food and don't treat their food the as if it were jeans, kitty litter  or some other commodity.

The quality of the food that you put into your body, IMO has some impact on your health.  You can survive
on poor quality food, but I'd rather do more than 'survive'.

You are free to shop where you like, and for many shoppers, a few dollars will make a difference in the amount
of food available for their family.  You can actually eat old shoes if you are that desperate enough too, but I
prefer not to eat old boiled down shoes just to save a buck.

No politics was involved in my original post.  My subject had to do with quality of the food purchased not
scumbag WalMart.

Just my two cents, and to be fair, most "food" stores sell many more non-food items than you might be aware of. Health and beauty sections are just one of many things that come to mind. In addition they cleverly hide non-food items in the food aisles. Having some first hand knowledge of "grocery" stores, I can tell you the reason that stuff is there is to get you to buy more than just food. I was told once by a Price Chopper VP, that they do better with their non-food items. Most "grocery only" stores also have pharmacies, video rental etc. as well. Gift cards and phone cards are also sold in "food only" stores.

I've been to farm stands where in addition to veggies, crafts and other such non-food items can be purchased. There really aren't any "food only" stores anymore.

Does a box of Post great grains cereal bought at Walmart taste different than a box bought at a "food" store? In Boxy's world of course it does because Walmart sells $hit!  ...and Post ships the $hitty boxes directly to Walmart!

I know several people that work at "food" stores..you would be STUNNED to hear about some of the stuff that goes on there. But go ahead and believe you're slightly "superior" because you shop at "food"stores... They appreciate it and laugh all the way to the bank.
Businesses, no matter what type, are in the business of making money...you have good employees EVERYWHERE...you have bad employees EVERYWHERE....some of the stuff that goes on at a $uper$hit Walmart goes on at the "food" stores.....ignorance is bliss though...

How long is the "fresh" milk sitting on the loading dock at WalMart before the part time fork truck driver manages
to get it into the cooler.
Food only stores have history of handling food, while Target WalMart etc do not.

On the subject of Walmart carrying the same products as other stores... that isn't always true.
I bought a Coleman queen size air mattress (at WalMart) to accommodate excess grandkids
when they come to visit.
Included in the mattress package was a hand pump to blow up the mattress as a package deal.
The mattress was of good quality while the pump was typical WalMart $hit.  I called Coleman
and got a service rep on the phone and described the problem.  He started to describe the problem but
then sent me to his supervisor to handle the call.
It turns out Walmart had insisted that Coleman sell it's pumps with the mattress at a reduced rate.  Coleman
said that their bottom of the line pump was adequate to handle the mattress needs but WalMart insisted
they drop their prices on the pump in a combo package.  Coleman refused so WalMart on it's own packaged
an off brand pump with the Coleman mattress.  Coleman had received many complaints of this nature.  Coleman
told me to go to WalMart and buy the Coleman pump, with a coupon number that Walmart would honor.
The Coleman pump worked.  The Walmart pump went in the garbage.

Watch the documentary Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price which touches on the Walmart policy
of squeezing suppliers.  Once a supplier is accepted at Walmart, they are reviewed yearly with an expectation
of dropping their prices every year.  The supplier is forced to take less for his product or earn less on his sales.
Of course WalMart adds this 'savings' to their profits, not to their customers

First, a perishable loading dock is usually 40 degrees, around the same temp as the storage cooler.  I am confident that Walmart's cold chain is at par with any other "food only" warehouse.  All storage warehouses have loading docks.  It doesn't magically teleport from the cooler onto a truck.

Second, Walmart doesn't "force" their suppliers to take less.  They manage their suppliers by pressuring them to offer their product at a lower cost.  Which is usually done by increased productivity.  If a supplier doesn't want to do business with Walmart and work to their business model, then they don't have to have access to the largest retail market in America.  The volume Walmart can guarantee far exceeds other retailers.

Walmart FORCES their supplier to take less for their product.  They either cut their prices by a stated %, or
they won't buy from that supplier.

No, walmart will only buy for less every year.  That forces suppliers to tighten their operation to maintain their profit margins if they want access to that market.  That supplier can sell to target or Wegmans or any other retail outlet.  If what you are saying is true, all their suppliers would not do business with Walmart, or the stock market would tank because their supplier wouldn't post profits.

Typical sourcing behavior...competition. Sorry. When I was negotiating costs at
my company, I told preferred suppliers they had to meet certain cost targets or
I would source from another. That's just business. Also, we "never" guaranteed
volumes, only provided honest forecasts, (unless product is proprietary to us). In
the case of products at Walmart, they may guarantee volumes on their branded products, but
highly doubtful they do on all other products.
