Mayor having one of his gala bus tours tomorrow (Nov 9)
Only one measly house on the tour
The failing mayor has this tiny image of a letter in yesterday's paper, it reads, "... Many of the homes we've had on display during the open house weekends are now under contract for sale ..."
Out of about 65 this year, many of which have been repeated many times including in 2013, only a pittance of 13 have sold.
And 37 of them are still for sale with a number of price reductions and still no one interested in buying. A good dozen of the ones still for sale have been for sale for anywhere from one to five years! CHEER CHEER, RAH RAH, the mayor is doing a wonderful job, the city is moving in the right direction.
Out of the 37 that were on the taxpayer funded bus tour that still remain for sale, more than half of them are empty houses - he owners have already fled. That's a bad message for prospective buyers, when sellers flee before the house is sold and no, these are NOT city foreclosures!
And if I counted right, 16 of the houses, the owners simply gave up trying to sell.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

if it REALLY mattered to the city folk......................the results would have been different..............but.................it wasn't. and they KNOW the truth.
Few people do the research on the house prices, and fewer know that the legal opinion of "assessment value" in the state of NY means "market value, i.e., what a house will sell for on the open market in an arms length transaction based on the actual sales of comparable houses." They see the city leaders bragging about houses selling. People in general, in my opinion, don't know what's going on next door to them, who lives there, etc. And naturally the city will NEVER educate people that assessments are supposed to be in line with the market values, so homeowners look at other houses on their street and see that their assessments are in line with other houses.
Lack of knowledge is not a good thing, those of us who are intelligent must continue to speak up, educate others, and the truth must be provided with evidence instead of fairy tale comments.

I TOTALLY disagree! We know many many many many folks who live in the city and know EXACTLY what is going on!! TRUTH!! And yet not ONE of them will make ANY effort whatsoever to attend a city council meeting or contact ANYONE!! THEY KNOW.....but some folks just like to b**ch and complain and do absolutely NOTHING about it!!!
OH....and as a side note....almost all of these folks go to proctors, volunteer at proctors, go to the eateries downtown...blah blah blah!!! they b**ch and complain but they continue to FEED THE BEAST!!!
